Re: PSG shows increase in "spontaneous arousals" with CPAP?
Hi, two things... if your min. pressure is still low (e.g. 4 or 5) raise it by at least 2 for a couple of nights to see if it helps, and the other could be even a small weight gain that can make a surprising difference to how things go. It's 9 - 12 currently. I actually lost 6lb between the studies...

Re: PSG shows increase in "spontaneous arousals" with CPAP?
Was this most recent sleep study done while using the cpap machine or without it? If with cpap...then it wouldn't be impossible for the mask or machine to cause an arousal...comfort issues or whatever. If done without cpap...then cpap couldn't be the cause of the arousals. As to why so many now and...

Re: PSG shows increase in "spontaneous arousals" with CPAP?
Spontaneous arousals are arousals not caused by respiratory issues so no known cause. Something caused an arousal but it wasn't related to airway problems...now what it was is anyone's guess. No..not normal to have more than a handful (like on your initial sleep study). As to what might cause the i...

PSG shows increase in "spontaneous arousals" with CPAP?
Hello, 10 months after starting CPAP treatment following an OSA diagnosis, I recently did another sleep-study with CPAP followed by an MSLT to understand why my symptoms have not improved. Thankfully, the recent study showed a significant decrease in AHI (12 -> 3) and the MSLT did not show evidence ...

Re: Maxillary Expansion (DOME) to enable effective CPAP treatment?
Do you feel better now? Were you using CPAP before and after?

Re: Maxillary Expansion (DOME) to enable effective CPAP treatment?
The question that remains is why CPAP would be more effective breathing through my nose. Are you using OSCAR to monitor your CPAP performance nightly? I was using SleepyHead for the first few weeks when I started, but I had little to no difficulty getting down to an AHI of 1, and my Resmed machine ...

Re: Maxillary Expansion (DOME) to enable effective CPAP treatment?
I'll leave the technicalities to others. My understanding is that a full face mask accomodates mouth breathing. There's even oral masks available for mouth breathing only, so it's hard for me to get that mouth breathing alone is unacceptable. Now, I am thinking if there is an obstruction causing ai...

Re: Maxillary Expansion (DOME) to enable effective CPAP treatment?
I am 23. Is this something that can still be done at my age?

Re: Maxillary Expansion (DOME) to enable effective CPAP treatment?
Thanks for your reply. I've been using a full-face mask since I started treatment. I will start using a chin-strap tomorrow night. Do you have any more advice on how I can confirm that mouth-breathing is the problem?

Maxillary Expansion (DOME) to enable effective CPAP treatment?
Hi, I have been on CPAP for > 8 months, and while the treatment has been successful on-paper (in-terms of AHI reduction, I am consistently at AHI <= 1, verified by follow-up sleep study w/ my CPAP), I don't feel better at all. My doctor claims that this is because I breathe from my mouth during slee...

Re: First night of A-PAP with great mask fit and low AHI -- still tired?
Hi everyone, thanks for your replies. I'll keep using the machine consistently -- hopefully things improve soon!
I've attached my Sleepyhead session from last night. It looks like I may have had 0 obstructive events and mainly was just coughing.
Thanks again for the advice.

First night of A-PAP with great mask fit and low AHI -- still tired?
Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, with an AHI index of 13. I am using a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset machine and a full-face Airfit F20 mask, with a prescribed pressure range of 8 - 12. I began my treatment yesterday, and slept for about 7.5hrs. The mask fit is great, and comfort...
