Re: How to force DME to provide a new CPAP unit?
I was able to get a new machine at the local branch. Unfortunately, they seem to not understand how the 30-day policy works to replace a mask from the conversation that I had with the compliance team. Therefore, I just kept my mask, the n20, and I will give it a go even though I wanted to try a full...

Re: How to force DME to provide a new CPAP unit?
I have an update. Apparently, there is a "compliance" team which is incredibly more competent than basic customer service. Eventually, they did find that Apria offers the Bleep masks. They put in a replacement order for me. She was not sure why the local branch couldn't locate it. They said I could ...

Re: How to force DME to provide a new CPAP unit?
It is my understanding that ResMed no longer includes a SD card with its shipment of a new machine. They are going all in on using MyAir instead of SD cards so they tell people that SD cards are no longer needed. I don't think that DMEs are getting those SD cards like they used to get and pull out ...

How to force DME to provide a new CPAP unit?
I received a "new" resmed 11 airsense with 1200+ hours on it. Obviously, I won't be accepting it. I recall reading somewhere that DMEs are allowed to give used units, however this one is in noticeably used shape and frankly I don't want a used one. Do I need my doctor to give me a prescription with ...

Re: How many central apneas and hypopneas are "too many" which warrants a machine change?
Doctors won't normally prescribe a change in machines to a machine that can deal with central apneas until/unless the number of central apneas (that are for sure asleep centrals and not arousal centrals) amount to at LEAST 5 per hour average over the entire night and it happens pretty much every ni...

How many central apneas and hypopneas are "too many" which warrants a machine change?
I did not realize I had central apneas and hypopenas until after putting in my data to sleepqh and thought I only had OSAs. I had about 650 OSAs in 2024, 140 central apneas, and 196 hypopneas. Unclassified apneas were 30. The numbers are similar in 2023. I didn't go back further than that. I have be...

I wish there was a way to actually try the eclipse and at least a couple weeks of ports without having to pay close to $100. The original dream ports are cheaper but still expensive when we don't even know if we will like it.

Re: What is the best CPAP Battery for Travel
I am going to see how long I could camp with that big battery by using my AirMini this week. I used to have a Medistrom, but it died after using it for 3 years as a UPS, and it's too expensive for that short lifespan, so I did not replace it. My thinking is it's very expensive because it provides t...

Re: Deionized water vs distilled water
Here is some science that may ease your mind about what water to use. CPAP uses pass-over humidification which produces water vapor. Not aerosolization. The result is a much smaller water vapor molecule that is incapable of transmitting any pathogens that may be in your water. You're breathing pure...

Re: Deionized water vs distilled water
Just use tap water. Tap water did not cause your cough. Or maybe you got a nervous cough from worrying about using tap water. I have tried tap water now in three countries and have ended up feeling the same way. Whether it's real or not, I don't like how I wake up with tap water. We have hard water...

Re: Deionized water vs distilled water
Hate to bring up an old thread but now that distilled water is once again difficult to find, I was hoping if anyone has any confirmation on how deionized water works in CPAP machines. I am thinking that I may need to go this route if my local Walmart does not have distilled water available. I was fo...

Use of CPAP in emergency for covid treatment when oxygen is not available
I have a family friend traveling to India that is using an Autoset 10 for her. I recall that at least with this machine since it's the same I have, that you can add oxygen to it. Although cpap machines aren't meant to be used as oxygen concentrators, you can add oxygen to it. And I read this article...

Re: Switched machines w/family member and new machine feels weird
If you switch cards watch the LCD screen carefully to see if the machine is okay with having 2 different machine's data on the one card. I haven't tested this but past ResMed machines wouldn't let you do it. I keep meaning to test it out but just haven't got around to doing it. Respironics machines...

Re: Switched machines w/family member and new machine feels weird
so my doctor would be able to get my metrics during my annual checkups. Most doctors and DMEs are now using myAir. They don't download the card. With the new machine, sometimes I can't even tell if air is being pushed (it is, which I can easily check by removing the mask). Is there a problem? Not n...
