I use distilled - it's only a $1 per gallon, and we use it in our iron as well. When I forget I use filtered water (from our fridge filter). I avoid tap water because I don't want to inhale chloramine (what my municipality uses) treated water all night long. Chloramine treated water seems to irritat...
