Re: Obesity and Apnea
Back to the first post, so far in this thread, there doesn’t seem to be much interest in losing weight, in the possibility that losing weight would improve apnea, or in the new miracle drugs I brought up. People amaze me. Here is some of the relevant research, and good luck to you. https://www.nejm....

Re: Obesity and Apnea
Having just pointed out the problem with anecdotal data, let me ask a question. Think of all the people you know that are 70… 80… 90… years old. How many, what percentage, of them are overweight? None. Its unfair to use the criteria “complete 100% cure of apnea”. Using less air pressure is a sign of...

Re: Obesity and Apnea
It is my belief that obesity correlates with (non-central) sleep apnea. Not a 1.00 correlation, but a significant one. So yes, any non-100% correlation, you can say "doesn't necessarily". But more to the point, you can say "often". You can even put a percentage on it. Rather than using anecdotal dat...

Re: CPAP add-on Covid filter?
I’ve been on and off this board over the last year or two. There are certainly some helpful people and resources here. At the same time, I do remember CPAPtalk as having more than the usual negativity and trolls. People with too much time on their hands and nothing better to do with their life than ...

Obesity and Apnea
My understanding is there is a strong correlation between obesity and sleep apnea. I talked with a surgeon once, and he felt my apnea was related to my obesity, and until I handled that, any surgery would not do much good. I saw a sleep specialist and he said half his patients hate him and half love...

Re: CPAP add-on Covid filter?
Good yeah I got one filter on order. To test it out and to find the Resmed setting. Held off on the 50-pack.
Everyone’s all vaxxed up. Not sure those vaxxes are very useful against the new dominant strains they’re finding in sewage samples and at large. There may be newer vaccines in the fall.

1. Fact check: No, N95 filters are not too large to stop COVID-19 particles https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/06/11/fact-check-n-95-filters-not-too-large-stop-covid-19-particles/5343537002/ 2. Re: CPAP add-on Covid filter?
Thanks guys. I think I found the filter https://ap.resmed.com/knowledge/what-is-the-filter-that-compatible-with-airsense-10 Now I wonder if that is N95. Seems like it exceeds N95. https://shop.pall.com/us/en/products/zidBB50T I think however this will only filter inhaled air, but in my situation tha...

CPAP add-on Covid filter?
Anyone know of any CPAP add-on Covid filter? I found this article from 2 years ago, but it only talks about filtering exhaled air. I’m more interested in filtering inhaled air. After all if I can avoid inhaling Covid in the first place, I won’t be exhaling virus particles to start with. https://web....

Re: COVID 19 and non invasive ventilation support
Only patients under 60 are getting ventilators in Italy as hospitals are overwhelmed by coronavrius crisis https://www.the-sun.com/news/576232/doctors-in-coronavirus-ravaged-italy-can-no-longer-give-ventilators-to-over-60s-because-of-chronic-shortage/ Think it couldn't happen in the USA? https://img...

CPAP... Bi-PAP... Ventillator... what's the difference?
As far as I can tell, there are 3 levels of machine: - CPAP (which I have) - Bi-PAP - Ventilator (all require prescription) My CPAP certainly puts your intake air into you through a mask at a certain pressure (up to like "20 inches of water" whatever that is in PSI). And it has a feature called "whe...

I havent' said a word to her in 3 weeks... I didn't want to interrupt her! We may try some of the ideas in this thread http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/p1089718/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=112758&p=1086133 I will try turning up the pressure. Anything else anyone sees in her graphs? Thinking the problem is ...

Re: Help! With wife's apnea
I made the adjustments recommended in this thread. My wife finally tried the CPAP for the last few nights. I have attached some recent and better screen shots. I would sure appreciate any analysis. Went to a full mouth+nose mask. It seems to be helping. With only nasal pillow, she may have been swit...

Re: MAXOAK CPAP Battery Backup CPAP Power Bank. And Flying.
I'm ready to give up on this and just try sleeping without my machine for 3 nights. Seems like not enough people have CPAP, and want to fly to somewhere without AC, not enough to justify many or any turnkey products. ... and that's what I did. Camped out on Maui for 3 nights without my CPAP. There ...
