To try to answer your questions -

My new machine is a Resmed Aircurve 10 VAuto.

The heater setting is a 2. A setting of 1 gives no humidity.

My pressure setting is 9.0 on the old machine.

Thank you, I sure do appreciate you responding, however, I have no idea what you are talking about. I have been using a CPAP for twelve years and I have never seen any part of my study, nor do I know anything about my settings. I have never had problems before.

If you have only the one machine, I would keep the old one. It is really hard to go two, three, or four days without a machine when your new one goes out. Ask me how I know - mine went out on Friday before Christmas. I went five days until I could get a loaner.
