First time user over the Panic attack but cant sleep
Hello Again, Thank you to all for the advice. I started with my RESmed Autoset 10 and a full face mask with the min setting of 4 and a max of 20 and a ramp of default 45 mins. That combination sent me into a full blown panic attack and I haven't had one in years. I used the advice here and adjusted ...

Re: First Time CPAP user First night Panic Attack
We get "told" all sorts of stuff but that doesn't make it the truth. I was told I needed a full face mask because I mouth breathed...but my nose was always clear. Yeah...I did do some mouth breathing sometimes but it was because of the untreated apneas causing me to gasp for big breaths with my mou...

Re: First Time CPAP user First night Panic Attack
Pugsy, I was told that by the tecnician that set me up. By nasal mask I think its the ones I saw that only cover the nose. Yeah, I assumed as much. Doesn't mean that they told you the real truth though. Lots of time they tell people all sorts of crap because they are too lazy to sort through nasal ...

Re: Totally confused about it all but what is the right experience
My cheeks have never puffed out. Other people have had it happen though. Use the mask and machine while watching TV...reading a book...and under no pressure to fall asleep...do it for a couple of hours or so while awake. It will help speed up the adjustment process. I cant thank you enough for all ...

Re: First Time CPAP user First night Panic Attack
Thank you. I was told a nasal mask would not work for me since I snore. Huh???? Most of all of us here snored...I would rattle the windows with my snoring...been using nasal mask for over 9 years. The only reason for a person to not be able to use a nasal mask is if they simply can't breathe throug...

Totally confused about it all but what is the right experience
Thanks to all that have helped me. We have talked about masks and settings, ramp and pressures but I guess my big question and what would help me the most is what should the experience be like? What should a proper CPAP experience feel like. Should my cheeks puff out? My problem is I do not know wha...

Re: First Time CPAP user First night Panic Attack
Different masks make a big difference. Switching from a full face mask to a nasal mask helped me tremendously. It made the difference between tossing and turning and finally dropping of from sheer exhaustion to looking forward to going to sleep at night. Thank you. I was told a nasal mask would not...

Re: First Time CPAP user First night Panic Attack
Thank you to all that replied it is very reassuring. I was told that all that needs to be set are the mins and max as the machine automatically adjusts to me. But what people have said about the Ramp makes sense as after I feel briefly asleep I did notice the changes in pressure and it was much easi...
