Widely divergent AHI scores on OSCAR

My AHI on OSCAR has been generally excellent but intermittently I have had widely divergent readings for no apparent reason I can determine. This week for instance I had 1/23: 0.0 1/24: 0.72 1/25: 0.92 1/26: 0.0 1/27: 0.0 1/28: 17.63 1/29: 6.56 I can't think of anything different as far as diet, alc...

Re: Make mask or skin less slippery so mask won't slip

I ordered a "comfort" cervical collar from Amazon and tried it on for the first time last night. It was so uncomfortable in the back of my head I didn't even try to sleep in it. I usually sleep on my back. Wouldn't any cervical collar be uncomfortable lying on it with the back of your head? BTW-what...

Re: Make mask or skin less slippery so mask won't slip

I’m just experimenting, haven’t actually tried this yet; I have a small pillow with loops on either end that I could put a ribbon through and just connect behind my neck or I could use another small pillow perpendicular to the one under the chin to support it. If this doesn’t work I’ll try a cervica...

Re: Make mask or skin less slippery so mask won't slip

I think you're right - my jaw must be dropping. I'm going to try a cervical collar or maybe a small pillow of the right size under my jaw, resting on the clavicles.

Thanks!

Re: Make mask or skin less slippery so mask won't slip

I use CPAP wipes to clean my mask every morning and I wash my face and then use an alcohol pad on my skin before bed where the mask comes in contact, so I don't think the problem is oily skin. I was thinking of some kind of adhesive or something to make the skin a little stickier to make the mask le...

Make mask or skin less slippery so mask won't slip

I use the ResMed F30 mask with generally very good results. I notice that when first using a new F30 mask there is a slightly sticky or "tacky" feel to the silicon that helps it stick to the face. After a while this is lost and the bottom part of the mask tends to slip up out of the groove in the ch...

Inspire inplantable treatment for sleep apnea

Has anyone heard of or had any experience with the Inspire implantable treatment for sleep apnea? It claims to
stimulate the oropharyngeal muscles to keep the airway patent during sleep. Supposedly covered by insurance and Medicare for eligible patients.

Thanks,

Re: Early morning events

Thanks for your advice Pugsy - Since these are not really interfering much with my sleep or causing daytime somnolence, I'll see how it goes for a little while. If they persist or cause more symptoms I'll increase the EPAP and PS as you suggest.

Thanks again!

Re: Early morning events

Pugsy - here are some tracings just before and after the clusters. Maybe I was awakening and then fell back to sleep for a while before getting up for the morning.

Early morning events

Since starting ASV recently, I find I have very few events during the night until the early morning hours, about 1-2 hours before awakening. Then there is periodic breathing with episodes of hypopnea. The ASV appropriately increases the pressure during these episodes to avoid apnea but the flow rate...

Re: Increased Clear airway apneas

I adjusted my settings last night as Pugsy recommended - increase EPAP to 9 and PS to 4. The results speak for themselves: screenshot-20200701-064949.png Thanks Pugsy for your help - We are all very fortunate to have the benefit of your knowledge, experience, and dedication to helping all of us on t...

Re: Increased Clear airway apneas

I just started using ASV two nights ago and so far have had elimination of long central apneas. My mask is more comfortable and there has been much less leaking at the lower average pressure throughout the night. My AHI was 0.8 the first night but I was disappointed it was 3.34 last night. Tracings ...

Re: Frustrated living wife needs understanding and some honest knowledge

Anything that affects the health of blood vessels can affect erectile performance. Your husband has multiple risk factors for vascular problems including obesity, elevated cholesterol, poor diet, heavy smoking, and lack of exercise. Maybe if he understood the relationship between these risk factors ...
