Re: Loud whirling noise - is my new Dreamstation faulty?

Thanks mate. The power supply brick is still the original one, the only thing that changes is the figure 8 Australian plug that goes into the philips power brick. I’m not an electrical expert but this should be fine? Also heated hose was recognised correctly. Anyway, the super nice guys at Sistemma ...

Re: Loud whirling noise - is my new Dreamstation faulty?

I can firmly say that this thing is faulty. Right now I have two dreamstations going in my room at the exact same settings. Both at tube temp = 5, humidity = 4 and been running for 15 minutes. The Dreamstation I ordered is not heating up the hose whatsoever, it's cold to touch, while the trial machi...

Re: Loud whirling noise - is my new Dreamstation faulty?

I looked at your YouTube video. I do hear a whirling noise. Question: did you record in the beginning of when the machine was turned on - or after 15 minutes or so? I do "hear" my machine starting up for the first few minutes until it settles into my breathing pattern (or so it seems) and then it's...

Loud whirling noise - is my new Dreamstation faulty?

So I’ve been trialing a Dreamstation from a clinic in Australia for the good part of the last six weeks. First off I thought this machine was louder than the Resmed I trialled but I was soon able to get used to the sound and sleep soundly (pun intended) at night. Fast forward to now, I decided to pu...

Re: Trialing the Dreamstation after 3 weeks of Resmed Auto 10. Higher AHI? My thoughts.

You are one of the lucky ones who actually got a chance to trial different machines so that you could decide which one suits your overall needs the best. Most people don’t get a choice. Yep, here in Australia we are able to pay $250 for a CPAP trial once we have the prescription from the sleep spec...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question

I haven't read the entire thread so sorry if I missed this but... how about getting an actual proper sleep study done so you can assess your situation correctly? Yeah, you probably have sleep apnea based on what you think or what your wife thinks but self diagnosing always sucks. Also, AHI is not th...

Re: Trialing the Dreamstation after 3 weeks of Resmed Auto 10. Higher AHI? My thoughts.

Alrighty so I swapped back to the Resmed just for my own sanity and I definitely think I am one of those people who just prefer the Dreamstation. I feel like I am suffocating with the Resmed, the breathing for me just feels unnatural where as the Dreamstation felt fluid, natural and seemed like it w...

Trialing the Dreamstation after 3 weeks of Resmed Auto 10. Higher AHI? My thoughts.

I've been posting new threads here a fair bit, but it's because this forum is so helpful :) Plus, the people at the sales clinic know next to nothing useful. So I am coming close to the end of my CPAP trial, and I thought I would be wise to at least try another machine for my own sanity. So for the ...

Re: Nose instantly blocks when mask on. How to set humidity?

We also need more information on what mask you have. Please fill out the equipment section of your profile. For instance, with the P10 pillow you may need a hose cover for the mask's e posed tube and a barrel cozy for the mask, especially if rainout is especially bad. I have a Philips Dreamwear Ful...

Re: Nose instantly blocks when mask on. How to set humidity?

You need to pick a humidity setting that your nose likes first and then you adjust the hose air temp for comfort and rain out prevention. Read posts number 2 and 3 here for options to help with prevention condensation in the mask or hose. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t94035/Pugsys-Pointers-3De...

Nose instantly blocks when mask on. How to set humidity?

Hi all, I've had some absolutely horrid nights of sleep where I've felt like I am suffocating and I end up ripping the mask off. This is due to my nose blocking. Basically I've been able to notice that it happens: As soon as I put the mask on, my nose congests. I could be breathing perfectly seconds...

Re: On APAP trial; I have no idea if I should buy one? Sleepyhead data included.

BTW, your pressure is low. Do you really need EPR? If it were me, I would turn it off. I have not thought about turning it off. Is there any benefit / downside to using it or not using it? And, it will only get worse as you get older. Normal that I'm having mixed results then, I take it? And the da...

On APAP trial; I have no idea if I should buy one? Sleepyhead data included.

Hi guys, First time poster, long time reader. I've been using a Resmed Autoset 10 for 3 weeks and my trial ends in a couple weeks. I will then need to make a decision if I will purchase a machine. As it stands right now, I honestly have no clue if I should. I'll keep this short and to the point. Mal...
