Re: Using machine but still wake up gasping

Did a sleep study Pressure was way too high and causing me to have central sleep apneas as I couldn't exhale fully against the pressure. They dropped it to 6 I sleep way better. Chest pain was from suppressed rage. Unbelievable what anger can do to you. It was causing my body to shut down basically....

Re: Using machine but still wake up gasping

Still having trouble with chest pain and breathing. I find myself waking up taking quick, shallow breaths some nights. I know some of this is probably anxiety related. Ive been to emergency room many times with chest pains, always after waking in the middle of the night or after a horrible sleep. My...

I have a bilevel auto. Mine is set for a min of 8 with a max of 24 with a p4 which I believe which gives me that much relief on my exhale no matter how high my pressure actually goes. In fact I rarely reach 20.
Thankyou for the info! I appreciate it.

Re: APAP VS BiPap

Where are you located? And what are the credentials for this "therapist"? Doctor, nurse, PA, RT...what? he said the Bipap wouldn't help as my air-way would close if I dropped the exhale pressure too much more than the inhale. Partly true but easily remedied if that should happen and often the added...

Re: APAP VS BiPap

Talked to my therapist today and he said the Bipap wouldn't help as my air-way would close if I dropped the exhale pressure too much more than the inhale. He also said Bipap if for people with Higher pressure needs than my own. Any of that true? I thought maybe I could rock a 12 inhale and a 7-8 exh...

Palerider never saw a post he couldn't find a way to disagree with and make "it" wrong so as to make himself right.

Re: Newbie: Buy apap before study?

Yes. Ive had nothing but problems dealing with respiratory therapist and many others on this forum have the same experience. Ive learned so much from this forum and whatever improvements or changes that I needed to make actually came from this forum and not from my therapist. I would caution that yo...

APAP VS BiPap

Is Bipap that much better? Im having extreme problems breathing against my APAP with a flex of 3. My therapist said he couldn't recommend or let me do a trial on Bipap because he needed doctor's approval from a sleep study which I can't get quick enough while I suffer with chest pains, heart palpita...

Re: USA sleep study waiting times? Washington State

Mine was only a couple weeks, and it was a really good experience. But, it was also one of the most expensive ones I have heard about. I am glad I didn't know the cost ahead of time. I might not have done it. The lab was comfortable, quiet, sleep number bed. The techs were awesome. They fitted me f...

Re: Using machine but still wake up gasping

For me. Dry Mouth can be leaks or GERD (stomach acid can make the mouth seem dry.) Waking up gasping, when you take the mask off, sounds like Aerophagia. Air gets pumped into the stomach with the extra pressure of the machine. The air in the stomach presses on the lungs and heart. I would ask you i...
