Re: NPR CPAP Story

This story reminds me of EULAs. Every time you install some software or register for some kind of SaaS website, there's a giant string of legal text that defines the terms of use. The problem is that nobody ever reads this language -- and even if they did, they couldn't understand it without a Juris...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

The elbow of your mask has an anti-asphyxia valve that will allow you to breath even though the mask is sealed. You can hear it open and close as you breathe. The CO2 vents will continue to expell the CO2. Most people will wake up when the power goes out. Thanks. Good to know -- especially since we...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

So an interesting thing happened last night... The electricity went out. Apparently, my sleep was undisturbed -- although I do have a faint memory of the BiPAP machine automatically reactivating and the subsequent increase in pressure... But I do have a question. Is it safe to be breathing in a mask...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

I realize it's the holidays and you probably don't have any extra cash right now but watch LSAT's posts next year.... http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=1280400#p1280400 This one will probably be gone but he will get others as he has a chance....always a very fair price and sometimes even new ...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

So it's been a while since my last post... I'm not sure what happened, but after a period of relative success with 17/13, I started to have a few bad nights with AHI3.5, and, 1.8, and 2.2... so I increased pressure in an effort to get things back under control. Here's my last week's worth of data: ...

Re: CPAP Newbie Asking for Air Pressure Advice

I wonder if Pugsy could make the text bigger and in RED... and maybe flash... it'd probably be ignored anyway, even if it were possible. Can't make it bigger or any color but black and for sure no flashing. Sorry. The forum editor modifications aren't available in the Subject line. I actually tried...

Re: Why is it necessary to have a support team?

I'm approaching the end of my second month, and I can safely say it would have been impossible without a support team. Family involvement has been vital. But even more importantly, this community has provided me with expertise, advise, and help that even doctors could not, would not, or for which th...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

So I dropped my machine. I rolled over last night, and the tube pulled it right off my night table. Everything seems to be "normal." No water appears to have gotten into the machine -- in fact, very little escaped the reservoir at all. Pressure reads as normal, and feels normal. The onboard diagnost...

Re: 1 year in

First week of January, I will have been on cpap for 1 year. Ive got 277.4 hours showing on my machine. Today i pulled the trigger on a used machine with only 11 hours on it. Thats like 1 nights sleep for me. It will be great to have a back up/travel machine. Overall I feel so much better than I did...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

I wouldn't bother getting several though... I started out with the mirage quattro... and read (here) about how "fragile" and "delicate" the mask cushion was.. so I bought a spare right away on eBay. Five years later, when I switched to the P10, that spare cushion was still in the package. I went th...

Re: Cpap after uvelctomy

Hey everyone, I'm now on the Mirage Liberty mask, which is a full-face mask including the nasal pillows. The good news is that I've been checking the Resmed data online and the AHI event per hour indicates that I've had under 5 events per hour most nights so the sleep that I'm actually getting is h...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

So... last night was a bad night. AHI 2.46, with seven obstructive apneas. Worst night in 17 days, actually. Ironically, in spite of that, I had the absolute lowest VS2 score since I began this journey.Go figure. https://i.imgur.com/M3XTT57.png What's a typical variance in AHI? My 10-day average is ...

Re: Jonathan's ongoing list of questions, comments, concerns...

For your first question, I recommend keeping one spare mask on hand. Masks do not wear out. However, cushions need to be replaced once in a while, and head gear stretch out. I normally keep one complete mask and one or two cushions on hand. This way if the plastic portion of the mask should break, ...
