Re: Help with pressure

Welcome! It would be helpful to have more information. When did you start using your machine? Why were you prescribed a bilevel machine? How were your settings determined? What was your AHI during your sleep test (OAs/Hs/CAs)? And how are you determining the number of RERAs you are having now? Final...

Re: Can't stay asleep

Did Jason explain why he recommended a pressure of 13? It would be helpful to know this.

Re: Looking for help getting AHI down

Welcome! A couple of thoughts. Many of your OAs are clustered, which can mean you're having a positional problem. The clusters might reflect you sleeping on your back, despite your efforts to stay on your sides, or they might indicate chin-tucking. That's when you sleep with your chin down near your...

Re: High Centrals, Bad Sleep Quality, Next Steps?

Your sleep doctor is a jerk. Can you find another one?

A few questions: What medications do you take? Do you live at a high altitude? Do you have any pulmonary problems that you know of?

Re: 2-week mark and sleepy - help with high CA's and malformed flow??

I don't know whether your arousals are related to respiratory effort (RERAs) or not, but you do have a lot of them. Did the sleep test show your sleep stages? If yes, how much time (or percentage of total sleep) in each stage did you get? I'm glad your doctor is following up on other possible causes...

Re: TECSA's or?

Your numbers are excellent. I'd recommend you concentrate on getting more sleep and doing what you need to do to feel as comfortable as you can during the night. A new strap sounds like a good idea. And at this point, try focusing less on the numbers and more on how you feel during the day. Keep som...

Re: TECSA's or?

Well, what I was thinking is that it is *possible* you had just as many CAs during your in-lab test but they weren't scored. *If* that were the case, your current CAs would not be treatment-emergent. No way to know, though.

Re: TECSA's or?

About your in-lab test: it's my understanding that when these tests are scored, pauses in breathing that occur when you're awake are not counted.

Re: Help required to reduce AHI and Aerophagia

A thought from a different direction: on the advice of someone treating my nosebleeds, I've started using Ayr gel inside my nostrils to keep them from getting too dry. I put a dab on a Q-tip and gently pat it on the inside surfaces of my nostrils. This is working well for me.

Re: First Attempt With New DreamStation 2

Catch on fire -- yikes! But at least you're not breathing in bad stuff. Wait and watch is a good approach. Don't forget to factor in "subjective" data. When the numbers are good, what matters most is how well-rested you feel.

Re: First Attempt With New DreamStation 2

By the numbers, this looks good. You could raise your minimum by .5 or 1 just to see whether that helps to head off some of your (few) OAs and Hs, but you could also just leave your settings where they are if this chart is typical. The real questions are these: How soundly are you sleeping? Do you f...

If you want to use a range that tight, why not turn ramp off and just use max = min = 11 (or 10.8)?

Re: Turning CPAP Off and Back On During Sleep Interruptions

What you're doing is exactly what sleep experts recommend. The only question I'd have is whether you're still meeting your minimum hours per day for insurance purposes during your trial period. Do you know whether there's a minimum you need to meet?

Re: 22 Centrals AHI, on BiPaP, What to change?

The chart you posted is for 45 minutes of time on the machine, and it looks like you were probably awake the whole time. Do you think that's true? If so, the CAs are meaningless. Is your stomach getting distended with air? If it isn't, then that issue doesn't call for any changes to your settings. I...
