Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
A rather belated reply to my post, but it eventually died altogether. Well, not quite "died" but started to make an alarming groaning noise and smelling bad, so more sort of undead, then. So I'm left thinking that someone's assertion that mine was a bit of a lemon was likely correct. Fortunately the...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
The CPAP is well-controlled: my AHI is typically zero, and a bad night is 0.3. In that instance I believe the machine's recording, just that its idea of its own pressure output seems a bit... well, wrong. But the cause of me waking up is a mystery. It's not just the A10, but the loan A10 APAP last y...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
So, back to the subject... well, almost, I'm thinking more sleep in general than CPAP or the A10, but it's my topic and I'll cry if I want to. Or something. I'm seeing my GP (er, regular doctor, for non-UK types) a week Monday and wondering what to say to her about the results of the sleep study whi...

Re: Necessary to have a backup machine?
Nope. The hardware is the hardware, in fact, if it's like the S9 series (and I'm willing to bet money that it is) the internals of *all* the machines are identical, meaning that there's nothing different, hardware wise, between the cheapest brick, and the most expensive iVAPS machine. That's how it...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
I haven't personally seen anybody doing wraps for the air10 series, but they would be easy to do... all flat planes and simple curves. Now I want a sort of tie-dye A10 that lulls me to sleep with Hawkwind songs. Oh, and also nice to see Beastie doing the rounds! Speaking as someone who spent a lot ...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
Oh yeah, I'm in Oxford in Oxfordshire, in Englandshire. I should interfere with my profile again. I have noticed that in general, the standard of care in Oxford is extremely poor. I put this down to the number of clinicians trying to climb up the greasy pole of academia and getting into the universi...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
Hmm, studying the results further, the polysomnography says I have about 17 arousals per hour on average, and the motion detector is picking up about 25-35 full awakenings per night (I mean long enough to have some memory) which is in line with my experiences; as is the about six hours' sleep in tot...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
Though not a CPAP matter, I got the results of the neurological sleep study back today. The upshot is that of the eight hours I spend in bed I get about six hours' sleep, but that's very broken up: my average sleep time is 15 minutes (the range is about 10-19) and the average time between them is fi...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
Thanks so much for the clarification! I'm actually not desperately keen on pink so I don't feel I really missed out there. Having said that, I'm also not especially keen on the S9's standard silver but at least it's a bit less "look at me, everybody!" With the A10 that's something for me to bear in ...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
Another random point which nobody has mentioned to me: I notice that the S9 and A10 also come in "for her" flavours which I'd always just assumed was a matter of styling but I've seen suggestions there may be more to it than that. Can anybody clarify? Unfortunately my gender is slightly, erm, less s...

Re: Necessary to have a backup machine?
Actually not the mid 00's for the S9. The S9 models were released first in 2010 and prior to the S9 models there were the S8 models that were blue and white. I first started therapy in 2009 and all that ResMed offered at the time was the S8 models. It was a big deal when they changed to the S9 mode...

Re: Necessary to have a backup machine?
If you have a very old one in working condition, you might be able to talk them into letting you keep it, especially if your case is severe. They probably wouldn't give a very old one to a patient. In the US, replacement is typically five years. I'm not sure what the standard is in the UK, but I do...

Re: Airsense 10 Elite: can't breathe in
Oh, yes, good point: thank you for the reminder! I do apologise for sounding rather negative earlier, I was tired and grumpy, entirely surprisingly after not using my CPAP last night. :D So I've now turned on EPR, which I hadn't done previously on the basis of "try one thing at a time" so I'll give ...
