Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
There is no special separate setting for Max IPAP. Max IPAP is a function of EPAP plus PS and since PS (2 to 8cm) can vary then IPAP is going to vary. If you want to really limit IPAP you have to limit EPAP and also limit PS max. Remember PS gets added on to EPAP to give you IPAP. Got it, I think l...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
So I am a little confused about settings. I wanted to try different pressure limits, but when I go into the settings and change MAX EP and MAX PS, it doesn't seem to limit the max pressure to 8.0 like I have it set? Not sure if you can see my settings from last night? Maybe I need to be changing the...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
Interesting news from the ENT! I will be very curious whether the nasal surgery will resolve your FL problem. Please let us know! About discomfort from the chin strap: did you ever wind up trying taping? I can recommend Somnifix (though it is pricey). And abour your nasal discomfort: have you tried...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
Any other recommendations? It seems every night looks the same with too many wake ups. I did see an ENT last week who said I need sinus surgery! Guess I have a deviated septum and other obstructions that I can't remember what he called them. So, not sure how that plays into this. I went to see him b...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
Are you having problems getting back to sleep? Are you having problems dealing with the pressure? I see you've got the ramp set for 45 minutes, and starting really low, with all the times you're restarting the machine, that's a lot of the night you're going without therapy. I don't think I'm having...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
Howdy folks, I'm back. The new bi-level machine is SO much more comfortable to fall asleep with and overall feels so much more natural. But I feel I'm still dealing with the same problem, making up a lot. You can see how many times I restarted the machine. The one thing I did notice, is the flow lim...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
Minimum EPAP is the minimum exhale setting...EPAP can vary but won't drop below 6 if you set it at 6 like I suggest. Think of it as being sort of like the minimum setting on the apap....needs to be high enough to give the machine a good headstart to where it needs to go. This machine will increase/...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
EPAP is the exhale pressure PS is Pressure support or the difference between inhale and exhale. So you have to add PS to EPAP to get what your IPAP is and obviously with these settings IPAP can vary Only thing I would suggest...increase that minimum EPAP from the default of 4 to 6...and see what ha...

Got it, thanks.palerider wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 6:09 pmPlease don't use the term 'bipap', that's a trademark of Respironics.marktheshark wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 5:29 pmDo you think a chin strap or mouth taping is still needed with Bipap? Or is it pretty much the same.
Mouth taping or other anti-mouth leaking techniques are the same with bilevel and regular cpap.

Or "adapt" if looking at s9 machines. Got it, thanks! If looking at S9 machines, the ASV to get is the VPAP Adapt, but only the REF 36037 model, not the older, less featured 36007 model. (REF number on label). Hi again... I saw this member trying to sell there machine, does this one look like the o...

Re: Looking To Sell, or Trade My Used Resmed AirCurve ASV for your Philips Respironics DreamStation BiPAP AutoSV Machine
Both of these are still avail. Next month I may trade the newer one back to my DME for a Philips Dreamstation BiPAP AutoSV just to have one of each, see the reporting differences. With reviews of the Resmed vs Philips I thought someone would want to step up to the Resmed ASV. My PM didn't seem to l...

Re: Newbie Self Diagnosis - In Denial - AHI Question
You don't want the AirCurve 10 ST. It's a fixed bilevel with a back up rate. It is NOT ASV.... you will hate it. If you want ASV it needs to say ASV. https://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/products/devices.html#Ventilators Or "adapt" if looking at s9 machines. Got it, thanks! If looking at S9 machin...
