Re: Correlation between sleepiness and mouth leak?
Thanks to you both. More info is always more helpful than less! I'm a back sleeper--of course, and am reticent to shave the beard. But in a week I may be freshly shaven and sleeping on my side lol. Thx again!

Correlation between sleepiness and mouth leak?
Hey friends- I'm getting conflicting info on how important mouth leak really is. One the one hand, my doc (who is engaged and on top of things) dismisses mouth leak almost entirely as long as my events are 5.0 or below. When I began in July 2018, I didn't struggle with mouth leak and my events were ...

Re: Mask leak or mouth leak (and how to stop the latter)
Many here try to sleep with their tongues braced behind their top teeth overnight, though how well it works is a question as no one can tell what happens overnight of course, but some say it helps. However, not everyone can do that and it's highly unlikely to 'cure' your apnea in any case... anatom...

Mask leak or mouth leak (and how to stop the latter)
Hey fellow PAPers: I am now almost 2 months into using my PAP. I haven't missed a night and there have been (and still are) some rough patches. I'll start off by saying I'm not one of those overnight success stories--most days I still feel pretty tired, usually around 1-2 PM. I do, however, have rea...

Re: Self adhesive medical wrap tape
OMG thanks, Palerider! I wouldn't have even had any idea what to search for--you're the best. Yeah, seems I have same issue--not the mouth coming open but the throat. Genius! Thank you!

Re: Self adhesive medical wrap tape
Hey gang- on the subject of tape for your mouth--I'm considering it. I have two chin straps currently but I have to bunch them *tight* to keep my mouth closed (I have a pretty strong jawline). The result is it actually causes my face to swell it's so tight, so not exactly comfortable. Here's the cav...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
Hi Pugsy- On the ResMed Airsense 10 Auto Set it says it's a variable exhale pressure--not sure where it's set, I can't tell from machine. I suspect that something I can see once I download the SW, correct? I'm not sure of the root cause of my "not being able to breathe" sensation. I feel like I get ...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
Thanks Muse! Update on the new masks- One has yet to arrive, but tried the new one last night. Phillips Dream Ware Under the Nose Mask. On the plus side, it doesn't jam up my nose. On the minus side, still is uncomfortable (kind of thick straps on sides so little uncomfortable for side sleeping). An...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
Thanks, Pugsy. Whoa, that's like learning a new computer language! ;-) I'll take a look when I have time to focus. Your links were helpful! BTW, just back from the CPAP place--I have two new masks. Let's see how I fare with these. At first blush/in the office, both seemed more comfortable than what ...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
Just read through your post. Your beginning numbers and oximetry are same as mine at the beginning. I found immediate relief after getting my machine. I mean, the morning after I woke up almost giddy with relief. My titration study said I needed 10.5 pressure. My sleep doc doesn't believe in APAP m...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
It's hiding with the "R"s because it starts with Resmed, while the others don't for some reason and therefore all start with "A". I hadn't realized this until the other day and it makes for more confusion... I was going to send a note to the powers that be to see if we can get that fixed. I think t...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
Based on your pressure being a range, I think you may have the wrong machine selected in your profile. A pressure range would imply an APAP machine. You may have the AirSense 10 Autoset Yes correct I do. But the drop down menu only has the airsense 10 for her or for travel, and I think both of thos...

Re: Newbie here—Just diagnosed and CPAP coming in 5 days
(I don’t snort when I sleep, I don’t have night sweats and morning headaches have dissipated). I also don’t have that anxiety/heart racing sensation any longer. Huge plus. Congratulations on that part! I do know I’m struggling with the mask still (it’s too tight, leaves now permanent indentations o...
