3+ months APAP use, input appreciated.
Hi all, 3+ months into treatment. Numbers continue to get better, and I've made pressure adjustments recommended. However, still feeling tired in afternoon, although not nearly as bad as before, and improving too. I did come off one of my blood pressure meds (was causing feet and ankle swelling) and...

Re: Dreamwear ffm users- Advice requested
I just hit one month with my Dreamwear ffm and just replaced it as the thin part in the nasal area has stretched out a little and the mask seems to leak a bit more. My insurance apparently paid for 3 to cover the next 3 months, as that's what I received when I ordered. I feel I could still use the o...

Newbie update on progress
Hi, Three weeks of therapy in, and making progress. Had been recommended by the board to increase my minimum pressure from 4 to about 7, which has brought my AHI down in the 10-12 range. Decided to finally break down and shave off my goatee to see how much of a difference that would make. Of course,...

Re: Hope for All Newbies
Melikou 1 - you're welcome. You have a ways to go but please don't give up. When someone told me early on that it could take a while (a year!) I didn't actually hear them. Now I understand. Also, the only other "secret" I can tell you is that it helps to walk every day for 30 minutes at a good pace...

Re: favorite full face mask?
I don't *like* any full face masks, but the one that works best for me in terms of holding a seal, and not hurting my face too much, is the Fischer & Paykel Simplus. The cushion venting does give an annoying whistling sound once in a while for me - it seems all cushions are not created equal in wha...

Re: Hope for All Newbies
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have only been using my APAP about 3 weeks, and have dropped my AHI from 38 in the sleep study down to around 9-12 the past few days. I'm just looking forward to when I might not be feeling narcoleptic in the afternoon. I know it doesn't happen overnight, and...

Re: Making progress
I like to keep any changes made to a minimum unless it is critical to change more than one thing at a time. Remember Science 101...keep your variables to a minimum. Yes...the minimum starting pressure is the only change that I would do at this time. I think 7 cm would be a good minimum since you ar...

Re: Making progress
When did they make the change to the 7 cm minimum? Today maybe? The report from last night is still showing 4 cm minimum. I would't be surprised if that cluster of CAs/centrals at 4:30 wasn't also some SWJ sleep/wake/junk where you were awake or semi awake. I would be real interested in seeing what...

Re: Making progress
Sorry, braindead about 4 cm minimum...was looking at starting pressure.
So the cmH20 Pressure is the only setting I would need to adjust?

Making progress
Hi, Have now been using my Auto-CPAP for 10 days. Switched my AirTouch F20 FFM to the Dreamwear FFM. Have used for 3 nights, and is definitely more comfortable for me. My provider has apparently bumped my beginning pressure now up to about 7 so I didn't have to go down the road of making the change ...

Re: Newbie to group
The AirTouch foam cushion isn't going to do will with any sealant type of product. It's going to probably break down faster. It doesn't even do well with plain old water much less anything else. It will accelerate the foam breakdown and inability to seal and you can't clean it off without causing f...

Re: Newbie to group
]Not sure if my provider made some adjustments to my unit or if I did (I dropped the ramp time down to 0 minutes as I didn't see any real value in the ramp for me.) Anyway, EPAP now begins at 7 and my Opti-Start icon shows on the screen. Perhaps it was already doing this at the end of the ramp when ...

Re: Newbie to group
Awesome...just looked at the Dreamwear FFM on the web....will definitely give it a try. I am really more of a side sleeper, and the top mounted hose will help greatly. A few times I've been awakened because I was sleeping on my good side, then rolled on to my back, and had the hose caught under my s...

Re: Newbie to group
Thanks very much... Yes, a lot going on. Also failed to mention that I have a goatee (I keep it pretty short). Have read some of the input regarding using a sealant like with a diving mask, which totally makes sense. The AirTouch mask has a memory foam seal, which is pretty compliant, so I'm not sur...
