Re: Losing weight - increased AHI

I'm not sleeping well at the moment. A mix of general higher levels of stress cos of this pandemic, the weather in England has been a bit hotter recently so harder to stay asleep. My increased numbers/higher AHI is a little worrying for me too, thinking with all this weight loss, my numbers should b...

Losing weight - increased AHI

Hi Over the past 4 or so weeks, my AHI has been creeping up as I have been losing weight. I've lost about 15 pounds and hopefully I'll be in the healthy BMI range within 5 weeks. However, a weird side effect of this has been an increase in AHI. My pressure had been 14.5 for a long time, but I recent...

Re: DramStation Noise Levels

It's like a continuous hum, which slightly increases in pitch when I inhale. On another forum, someone described it perfectly - it's like a hard drive working overtime on a task. Constantly. I've tried putting in a drawer and closing it, but the sound just travels up the mask. I've tried without the...

Re: DramStation Noise Levels

Thanks for the replies everyone. To answer the questions: I have a humidifier I bought it new (now about 13 months old) I haven't changed any equipment/new mask I don't think there are any issues with the hose - holes etc. Apart from rick, would everyone agree it's abnormal/louder than it should be?...

DramStation Noise Levels

Hey My treatment to date had been going well, but over the last few days, my CPAP machine has been much noisier than usual. My girlfriend has commented the same too. I've only had it a year and cost a lot of money, so I hope it's not broken. It's difficult to gauge the difference in sound as I just ...

Sleep apnoea and anxiety

Hi I’ve been on effective cpap treatment since Aug 2018, generally getting around 8hrs sleep and <2.5AHI per night. I have started to notice a difference in my fatigue levels and I’m generally a lot more alert, although there is still some lingering tiredness, which I’m hopeful will reduce with cont...

Re: Optimising Treatment (inc. pics)

Hi again. I've just bought a humidifier, as the air hitting my mouth was quite cold and I was getting a dry throat/coughs etc, it has always made treatment a lot quieter, barely even feel the air now. Generally, I feel like I'm getting better, deeper sleep, with quite a lot of vivid dreams - not unc...

Question - How often do you change pressure?

Hi, I'm new to CPAP, but I've got a question about pressure changes. I'm 31, so pretty young for CPAP. I'm moderate build, maybe could lose a little weight, but nothing significant. It seems my optimum pressure is 14, which again, seems relatively high from what I've read. As people age, do people r...

Re: Optimising Treatment (inc. pics)

Here's last night's data (attached) Lower AHI, which is lovely, but still some snores. I don't know what's a 'good' number - similar to AHI? Seems like they're happening at lower pressure/ramp feature (although I may be reading it wrong!). I do feel a little better today actually. Not groundbreaking...

UPDATED - Optimising Treatment (inc. pics)

Cheers Pugsy. I'll report back tomorrow. I was on CPAP for about 3 months (4>11) and only just last week I bought my Auto CPAP. In all honesty, I haven't seen a huge impact on my tiredness yet, maybe slightly. I'm hoping once I get my settings as good as you think is feasible, I'll then give it a fe...

Re: Optimising Treatment (inc. pics)

This is a forever machine. I hope so, as I bought it myself! I tend to sleep on my side.... At least I fall asleep on my side anyway. I'll give min pressure 13 a go then. Thanks. As a side note, what AHI should I be aiming for? Also, is it just a matter of finding a sweetspot? Should I be worried my...

Re: Optimising Treatment (inc. pics)

HI, So a few more days have passed and I've got an admission to make - I made an adjustment to the pressure after 2 days.... I did this because my DreamStation App said my AHI was 4.7 on Sunday and 4.2 on Monday. My 90% pressure was around 14, so I upped my minimum pressure to 11.5/12 (that's what I...

Re: Optimising Treatment (inc. pics)

Thanks all. I've set the machine to Pugsy's settings and I'll give it a few days before posting the results here. I have a Chromebook, which doesn't work with SH, so using a really old Windows laptop for SH, which makes things pretty difficult. I'll do a better job of getting some decent screenshots...
