Re: Can’t fall asleep with bipap
Hi Sallyy, It's been a very long time since my settings were finalized changed on my Resmed air curve 10, Bipap ST, Mode ST. I'm also sure there are many variables. It probably took almost 6 months to get comfortable with the machine. My settings are now: IPAP 15.2 EPAP 10.4 Ti Max 1.4s RESPIRATORY ...

Re: WHOOP Proven As Most Accurate, Non-Invasive Sleep Monitor
You make many good points in your response. Certainly every person has to use their own judgment before trying something like this. And, my understanding is also that many of the previous devices did not meet the claims they made. I think for this particular device, the minimum requirement of use is...

WHOOP Proven As Most Accurate, Non-Invasive Sleep Monitor
Too good to be true? I came across these doing online research to see if I could come up with a reasonably accurate method to determine my nightly REM sleep. The other information the device provides could also be valuable if accurate. The first article is obviously an advertisement from the company...

Re: Wrinkles?
Yes, definitely! But, I wouldn't call them wrinkles, they are mask indentations on both sides of the nose, and follow the contour of the mask toward the mouth. They used to go away after a few hours, but after 8 months, I think they are here to stay. Is my mask too tight? Probably, but for the most ...

Re: Leak Rate, Alarm, Stopped Breathing? and Resp. Rate,?
sleepyhead screws up the RR sometimes, without zooming in on the flow rate chart and looking at the breaths, it's just guesswork. maybe you had really high RR, maybe you just had ragged breathing and SH screwed up counting. I was looking at someone's data this evening, SH was saying the RR was up t...

Re: Leak Rate, Alarm, Stopped Breathing? and Resp. Rate,?
Hi, I think you may be right about a one-time either mask dislodgement (? word :D ) and/or some other random thing that may never occur again. Nothing is terribly 'off' to look at otherwise. Could the weather be affecting things there? It's just that a one-time glitch is not reliable for anything m...

Leak Rate, Alarm, Stopped Breathing? and Resp. Rate,?
Last night I had significant issues with my mask seal. I believe my mask fit and seal are good. Attached is a 30 day summary of my leak rates. I've also been working hard to stay on my side to reduce the AHI. I think I may be turning my face into the pillow dislodging the mask. Obviously I need to c...

Re: Complex Sleep Apnea - Hypopneas - Central or Obstructive
Is there any reason why large leaks graph is turned off ? If your experiencing large leaks as well that can also affect therapy effectiveness and can cause the machine to flag Hypopnea. But Hypopnea need to be treated with more pressure. Jas_williams, I wasn't aware that the leak graph was turned o...

Re: Complex Sleep Apnea - Hypopneas - Central or Obstructive
According to my understanding, I am unaware of any home-treatment machine of any brand or vintage that attempts in its reports to differentiate between obstructive hypopneas and central hypopneas. Therefore, any reported hypopnea by any brand of any year is simply a report of a reduction in flow fo...

Re: Complex Sleep Apnea - Hypopneas - Central or Obstructive
Hi Tonawanda, PS stands for pressure support. It means the difference between IPAP and EPAP. 15.2 - 10.2 = 5 PS Increasing your EPAP slightly seems like a reasonable adjustment and may help. You would be reducing the PS. Another thread discussing PS. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1667...

Re: Complex Sleep Apnea - Hypopneas - Central or Obstructive
Don't forget sleeping position as a potential variable in things. It's common for the obstructive apnea to worsen and/or need more pressure when we are on our back. Thanks for the reminder. I do work at sleeping on my side. I have to be creative because I still wake up on my back some of the time. ...

Re: Complex Sleep Apnea - Hypopneas - Central or Obstructive
It's not so much the machine couldn't determine OA or central but the fact that this particular model of machine simply doesn't distinguish between central vs obstructive apnea. One of the things I don't like about these high end ResMed machines. We assume obstructive but can't prove it. Even in cp...
