Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
Do you you suffer from hypertension, diabetes/prediabetes, high cholesterol, any cardiac issues, overweight/obese, nocturia ....? Not everyone with OSA has sleepiness as a symptom, but very often have several of these co-morbidities that point to untreated sleep apnea. Recently got a spectrum of bl...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
Do you still doubt you have OSA? Forget that the doctor was a dumb ass....do you still doubt the diagnosis? I’d hate to be a skeptic, but yes I doubt the diagnosis. If I had symptoms of sleepiness and gasping in the middle of the night(I do audio record my sleep) then I’d think it would make sense....

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
What troubles me is that the doctor prescribed CPAP before ever giving me my results from the in-lab study. He also seems to be milking out each visit for no apparent reason, except to collect from insurance. Last visit: How do you feel? Fine. How’s the CPAP machine going? What CPAP machine? You did...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
So, I received the results from the home sleep study. I also mentioned to the vendor that facilitates the study that I was interested in getting a second opinion, her suggestion was that instead of getting a second opinion I should just start the CPAP, very helpful lady. Anyway... the home sleep stu...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
Believe me I totally understand why someone would deny they have any medical condition and that when someone says they don’t have daytime sleepiness they just don’t realize how tired they are. Yes, truly honest to god, that is just not how I feel. I feel great when I wake up and never have had an is...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
During my study they started at a pressure at 4 and went up to 10 all while showing 0 obstructive apneas, except for 1 in the middle of the night at either 6 or 8 pressure(I don’t have the test results in front of me at the moment). But why would they increase the pressure if the technologist is see...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
But it seems to have caused Central apneas and those might go away with time and they might not but they need watching and the doctor didn't tell you that...he's not doing a good job and that in itself warrants a second opinion. The other thing that I'm reluctant to say, is that since the doctor ge...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
Just curious, but were any of your relatives diagnosed with narcolepsy? From the sound of it, it seems possible, if not even likely. We used to think my uncle had narcolepsy back in mid-90s, but later found out it was OSA. He used CPAP for a while and his OSA was corrected. Not sure if he still use...

Re: Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
What isn't clear from what you have disclosed here is what the results of the first diagnostic test was without cpap use at all. The fact that you had 1 OA during the use of the cpap machine doesn't mean that is all you had without the cpap machine. Very true, I was under the impression that during...

Understanding My Results After Sleep Study
Hello, A newbie here, looking to share my story with you. So long story short... because of my job (railroad) I have to go through sleep apnea screening. I was given a home sleep study and mailed it back after one night of testing. I go to the doctor to get my results. I was floored when I was told ...
