Re: Could a CPAP machine help someone with "mild" apnea? Is it worth trying?

Here's a link for a new airsense10 machine for $689 on Amazon that doesn't require a prescription. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079J6K5G3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1SE749A8NHEAE&psc=1 Comes with carrying case and heated hose. My insurance covered mine but they billed the insurance $2700. Yik...

Re: Now have central apnea since starting CPAP therapy

Thanks for all your help Pugsy. I'll try to lower the EPR to 2 tonite to see if I can tolerate it. And I think I'll try those chipupstrips recommended by Shinryoku. Has anyone ever tried Somniflex sleep strips? They cover the lips to keep the mouth closed and have a small vent hole to allow some air...

Re: Now have central apnea since starting CPAP therapy

Pugsy, I don't see anything in the flow limit graph except that small box in the lower left corner and I don't know what that means. I think I understand from what you said, that if my nose isn't clear that the machine could interpret that as an airway obstruction instead of just a congested nose an...

Re: Now have central apnea since starting CPAP therapy

Thanks to all who replied yesterday with helpful suggestions and comments. I turned off the EPR last nite as suggested by Pugsy and ajack but I didn't last too long. I woke up gasping and couldn't exhale without blowing thru my mouth against the pressure. I turned the EPR back on and did fine the re...

Re: Now have central apnea since starting CPAP therapy

Forgot to mention my EPR is set at 3 and the algorithm is set "for her". If the "for her" algorithm is more sensitive, do you think it might be picking up more sleep/wake/junk centrals? Would there by any reason to switch to the regular algorithm? Or could I lower the max pressure from 10 to 9 to se...

Re: Now have central apnea since starting CPAP therapy

I have the Resmed Airsense 10 for her with settings starting at 5 and going up to 10. I have the heated hose and am now on my 3rd mask already. I'm now using the Dreamwear with gel cushion (no prongs) and it's comfortable so far. (Started with nasal pillows but my nose got really dry and sore even w...

Now have central apnea since starting CPAP therapy

I'm a newbie and have only been on CPAP therapy just over 2 weeks. My sleep lab AHI was 9/hr. I had no central apneas in the sleep lab. Now that I've started therapy, I have lots of clear airway/central apneas showing up. In fact, my central apneas are now more than my obstructive apneas many nights...
