Hi Bill, yes, it is a good video. I use it when training new technicians. Thank you for posting it.

Re: Duration of hypopnea events

I just looked at Pugsy's flow rate graph. What I am seeing is typical flow after an arousal. I respect that Pugsy is very knowledgeable. But what I am seeing is classic for an awake-to-sleep breathing transition. They do look like breathing events. Yes they do look like 2 central apnoeas followed by...

Re: Has Anyone Ever Succunbed To Apnea?

Thank you freetimecreations, you are correct. I have performed many hundreds of studies on long term successful users of CPAP, these include both Review CPAP Trials and repeat diagnostic sleep studies where a physician wants to review a long term user's current sleep apnoea status. That leads into a...

Re: mask riding up

Sorry to say it but the Swift FX Nano is not a good style of mask. It is highly prone to leaking into the eyes. It is highly prone to being displaced with even gentle movement in bed. As a sleep tech I stopped showing them to patients many years ago. They are a suboptimal design. The most comparable...

Re: New Pressure new problems

1.) Yes, do ensure that you have the exhale relief on. 2.) When you sense difficulty exhaling, you are awake. When you are awake you don't have sleep apnoea happening. What you are experiencing is a hypersensativity to new sensations. It means that you need some settling in time with the new pressur...

Re: Has Anyone Ever Succunbed To Apnea?

I have performed thousands of diagnostic sleep studies over 15 years and not once have I observed an incident where the person did not spontaneously take another breath after a severe obstruction. I have observed oxygen levels dropping to 38% [given too that at this level there is a degree of inaccu...

Re: Duration of hypopnea events

Hypopnoeas should never be discounted and their impact underestimated. Not only can they cause the blood oxygen levels to drop into the low 80% range, but they cause as many sleep interuptions and full apnoeas. I am not familiar with the algorithms in the Airsense machines. It may be that there is a...
