Re: When I use my CPAP I clench my teeth
I also clench while wear my CPAP (and probably before but it's worse since I got the CPAP). I got a custom made appliance from my dentist, which actually adjusts the position of my bottom jaw forward. Then, when I try to clench, it is uncomfortable and I don't do it. I've had zero issues since I sta...

Re: slightly OT:Rocking puts adults to sleep faster
I took an overnight train trip a few ago and loved the rocking motion. Not sure where the machine would fit though, it's pretty tight quarters!

Re: Anyone use oral appliance with CPAP ?
I have a custom made oral device from my dentist that I wear concurrently with my CPAP. It is actually for clenching which was showing up as jaw bone deformation on my dental x-rays, but does bring my jaw forward a slight amount. It is quite small - full coverage along the back bottom teeth and a j...

Re: anyone have depression that went away after starting treatment?
My doctor originally diagnosed me with depression, but the medication she prescribed didn't do much. About 3 months later got diagnosed with OSA and started using my APAP machine, and 2 weeks after that I felt way better. Antidepressants didn't work as I wasn't depressed I was chronically sleep depr...

Re: CPAPs at the airport
I was travelling a couple of weeks ago and I was going through security with a guy who had the same grey ResMed bag as me. I realized perhaps I should put a name tag on mine, in case of any mix up! So I borrowed a marker from my son and wrote in on the 'medical equipment' tag.

Re: Cpap buyer still confused! (Canadian in Alberta)
I bought my initial machine through the doctor that did my sleep study. It is really weird that your doctor did not provide any guidance; the sleep test is covered by Alberta Health so selling equipment is where most outfits make their money! I bought my second set of mask/hose from cpapoutlet.ca as...

I made my own out of a small piece of fleece and some stick on Velcro dots.

Canadian security will ask you to remove the motor/blower portion from the bag and put into a plastic bin. No big deal.

Re: Can your wear a mouth guard while using a CPAP
I also have a dentist provided (custom-molded) guard for my lower teeth. I wear a nasal mask and there is no interference. Unlike you, I was not having any immediate issues that required intervention but my husband has cracked a couple of teeth and had to get root canals / crowns. Our insurance paid...

Re: Mental Health Improve?
In a nutshell, yes, I had a huge improvement in my mental health after starting CPAP. My doctor had prescribed me some antidepressants that had worked for me in the past but this time round they seemed to do nothing (except gain weight). Which, after my apnea diagnosis, made a lot of sense because I...

Re: Dealing with CPAP while pregnant
My pregnancies also pre-date my CPAP usage, but I will attest that some pretty strange things can happen with sensory input, particularly during the first trimester. I spent weeks 10-13 eating nothing but toast with peanut butter, skim milk, and fruit because the smell of anything else made me want ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
Well it's been 6 months for me. Mostly smooth sailing! Some issues in the first few weeks with adjusting to having the alien on my face, fiddling with pressures, rainout, etc. but once I got that sorted it's been great. According to SH my cumulative AHI is 0.27, and at least once a week I have a nig...

Re: Wheezing AirSense 10 AutoSet
This happened to me as well. Originally I had a rental, which was fine. When it came time to get my own machine via insurance it made a very annoying wheezing noise. I contacted the supplier and they replaced it for me.

Re: Development of bumps inside nose
I have had the opposite result! I had occasional pimple like bumps in my nose (that lasted for about a week each) for the last 5-6 years but haven't had a single one since starting CPAP.
