Re: Burping and mouth “pops” - pressure too high?

Sounds like you are having some variance of what we call chipmunk cheeks going on. Air goes up the nose and starts down the airway but enters the mouth because the back door is open. It's a common annoying problem that might go away with time and if it doesn't it might need some specific work to el...

Re: Burping and mouth “pops” - pressure too high?

You need sleepyhead...The 90% pressure means that 90% of the time you were at 16.5 OR BELOW. You might have been at 16.5 for only a minute or two during the night. Your minimum pressure probably needs to be increased. I should up the mininum pressure? I thought that the symptoms I was experiencing ...

Re: Burping and mouth “pops” - pressure too high?

If you have been reading the forum, you know we will ask....What is your AHI?...What are your pressure settings? Are you using Sleepyhead? Last night, I wore the mask for only 4.5 hours: AHI was 5.3 Mask fit 100% Periodic Breathing 6% 90% Pressure 16.5 Pressure Setttings: Auto Min: 5.0 Auto Max 20....

Burping and mouth “pops” - pressure too high?

Everyone here has been super helpful in working through the adjustment of a new CPAP user. The last two nights, I’ve had this weird thing happen where air will be forced from the back of my mouth and out through my (closed) lips almost making a fish-like pop sound. In the same night, I kept waking u...

Thought I had adjusted well, then came... the pressure

Thanks to some folks here on the forums, I thought my adjustment to the CPAP was well underway. I have been wearing it for 6-8 hours a night for the last 3 weeks. Then, two nights ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with super strong pressure in the nasal mask that was virtually preventing me ...

Re: Noob here: so how is this suppose to... feel?

Ah. Ok. I sense you have a teaching background because this is all beginning to make more sense to me. Given your definition, it seems that in the “true ramp”, as it works up to the minimum starting pressure, it won’t use the assistive Flex at all? That would explain why, when I press the ramp-icon ...

Re: Noob here: so how is this suppose to... feel?

I am likely confusing the definitions of all of this but I thought my machine does “ramp” up to 20 while I sleep?

Re: Noob here: so how is this suppose to... feel?

Ah. I think I understand now. You are saying I should set the main minimum pressure on my machine to 6.5 so that Flex will kick on. This means that when I turn the machine on, it will start at 6.5 (instead of the default 5) and ramp up from there, correct?

Re: Noob here: so how is this suppose to... feel?

Where am I making that 6.5 adjustment though? If it’s the Flex adjustment l, mine only shows options as 1,2 or 3

Re: Noob here: so how is this suppose to... feel?

You are indeed correct. The machine is Philips-Respironics DreamStation Auto CPAP I just received the clinical manual (and turned on Mask Fit test that was previously turned off for some reason). I can’t seem to locate anything called “Flex Exhale Relief” — is it just called “Flex” perhaps? The Flex...

Noob here: so how is this suppose to... feel?

I’m currently wearing the Wisp mask with the Phillips DreamMapper. The person who delivered the CPAP initially had me using a medium nose mask but I realized the first night that it was pinching my nostrils shut, so I moved up to the large mask. At some positions, there is definite pressure and no a...
