Re: Early in my CPAP journey questions
Some sleep clinics have the sleep doc, sleep lab, and provide CPAP equipment as a one-stop shop outfit. That's how it was for me and from experience they will fight you for their bottom line profit. In such a case you are better off just getting the Rx from the doc and shopping for your equipment s...

Re: Still can't sleep
"The study “Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Cardiovascular Disease, and Pulmonary Hypertension,” suggests that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is effective in the treatment of patients to significantly improve cardiac function, sympathetic activity and quality of life. The treatment can help red...

Re: Especially for newly diagnosed - Dealing with Change
I was actually delighted with my diagnosis. I knew there was a problem, and that was far more troubling than the diagnosis. My husband absolutely hated my snoring and that would wake him even out of a drunken stupor, which happened far too often, both the drunken stupors and waking him. He was more ...

Re: Why aren't feeling better with CPAP?
Compliance can be tough, but you have found the real benefit, a longer and more restful sleep, even if you don't notice the more restful part right away. I have gone from 6 hour nights, total, to one 11 hour night (I am retired and have that luxury) but that followed a couple of nights of non compli...

Re: Open mouth and therapy
There is headgear out there that can integrate a chin strip. When I first started with a cpap (and had corporate insurance that was decent) I asked about it after waking repeated with a very dry mouth, feeling like I had spent hours chewing on glass. You can google it, look at images, maybe find som...

Re: Cold Air in the Morning
I do route as much of the tubing as I can under the blankets, on of which is a heated throw. I was pretty much crediting that for much of the warmer air. However, I move around a bit during the night and wake just about 3 hours after I go to bed with knee pain (which is why I added the heated throw)...

Re: Cold Air in the Morning
Are you experiencing any condensation in the mask or hose? Is it using much water? How long have you had the machine & heated hose? Has it always seemed to not heat up? Do you know the approx ambient room humidity? There is occasionally a little condensation in the hose, never makes it the mask. If...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
In the first month, I did not get that burst of energy, in fact 3 months in with new machine I still don't have a burst of energy. I started off sleeping my usual 6.5 hours. That has increased one hour each month. I am regularly achieving an average of 8 or more hours. Sometimes, they are not in a r...

I have heated tubing and heated humidifier and in the AM they are delivering ice droplets! I might have to call DME.

Re: Cold Air in the Morning
I am using a Phillips Respironics Dream Station. It appears to have 5 levels for hose heat and humidification and both are set to 5. I was sent the tubing separately and it came with no instructions but it simply plugged in and the machine recognized it.

Cold Air in the Morning
Hi All, I am not exactly new to CPAP and now am a Bi-Pap user. I don't see that change being the cause of my problem. When I go to sleep, the prewarmed water in my bipap feels great, but by morning it feels more like icy air from an open window. (I live in Maine near the Canadian border, more east t...
