I think I would prefer an APAP with nasal pillows..after my research.
Also, where is my welcome basket to the club?

23 y/o- mild osa- what next?
Hello,
A home sleep study has confirmed I have mild OSA, with an AHI of 12.
I would say im probably mild-moderate realistically.
The NHS in the UK will only treat an AHI of 15+.
What are my options?
Will tonsil removal help? A mouthguard? CPAP/APAP?
Thanks in advance.

Mouthguards for OSA- advice please
Hello, Could anyone please give me advice on finding a mouthguard to help with OSA. I am still in the process of getting an accurate diagnosis. There appears to be nothing wrong with my oxygen levels at night but I am in the process of seeking further evaluation. Until then, which may take months, c...

Re: Sleep study completed- questions/concerns
1) Is an oximeter alone enough to be sure whether I do or don't suffer with OSA? No. Is it safe to assume they didn't find anything severe at this point? No, it's not safe to assume. They may just be damn incompetent in managing their practice. 3) During this sleep study, I slept for 4 hours, then ...

Sleep study completed- questions/concerns
Good evening everyone. I completed an overnight at home oximeter sleep study on the 14th Feb 2019. I have a few questions regarding this. 1) Is an oximeter alone enough to be sure whether I do or don't suffer with OSA? 2) It has been over 2 weeks and no one has contacted me. The sleep clinic refuse ...

Re: 23 years old...finally been given referral..what next?
Ok thank you. I shall post with the results I receive in roughly 3.5 weeks time! I can't wait to finally find out exactly what is happening to me while I sleep. So if I am told my AHI is mild (5-14 apneas/per hour)....does this mean there are no treatment options? Or just that it's not free via the ...

Re: 23 years old...finally been given referral..what next?
Hi Rick,
Thank you for your informed and helpful responses. Much appreciated.
My appointment is booked for the 11th January 2019. How long will it take from when I return the testing kit to receiving my results?

23 years old- tonsil and adenoid removal?
Hello I am yet to have my sleep study. It is booked for early January. I am 23 years old with suspected sleep apnea. I am not overweight at all. I spoke to my doctor about alternative treatments to CPAP and he said the removal of my tonsils/adenoids could be an option. Considering I am young, not ov...

23 years old...finally been given referral..what next?
Hello I made a forum around a year ago about my suspected sleep apnea. It took a year for me to get something done about it finally. It seems doctors in England are very uninformed about sleep apnea! Most doctors would look at me and think no way can a 23 year old man who is tall and in shape have s...

Re: Suspected sleep apnea- age 22
So you all think that jumping straight to a CPAP at the age of 22 is the best thing for me?
I know you all mean well, but I have reservations thinking its the best think to assume for such a young case, especially when it doesn't sound severe.

Re: Suspected sleep apnea- age 22
Oh dear, I hope that you found something to hit her back with! Joking haha. Yes I do understand CPAP is the standard and most effective treatment, but also please understand that at my age, especially when I don't see my case being very severe (although I need medical confirmation), I would like to ...

Re: Suspected sleep apnea- age 22
Its worth finding out for sure. Demand a sleep study, even an at home one will do. If you do have apnea, you will have caught it before much damage has been done. Jim Thank you for your reply. If I do detect the potential apnea now, do you think I would need a CPAP or would I more likely be given a...

Suspected sleep apnea- age 22
Good evening everyone. I am a 22 y/o male, who is a final year student at University. I have a suspicion that I may have sleep apnea, but unsure how to go about it, and I feel that the Uni Doctors may not take me seriously. So my symptoms: 1) I often wake up tired......but I tend to wake up graduall...
