Re: Nocturia and drug treatment
I kept waking in the night and sometimes sleeping on through the urge to urinate, which is actually exhausting and is making my sleep problems worse. I felt something may be going on with my prostate and I was right. I had a scan done and I have Benign Enlarged Prostate syndrome. I went to see a ur...

Re: Nocturia and drug treatment
I thought I would give an update on this - in my follow up appointment with my doctor, we discussed overactive bladder. Given all my previous blood tests were fine, plus the fact that even when I did take heavy duty sleeping pills I was still waking up, and my overall water/liquid intake, he believe...

Re: Nocturia and drug treatment
Thanks to all for the comments. In response to several points. You are probably drinking too much water. Apologies, I should have quantified my water intake with more clarity in the first post. I drink at most a total of around 1 litre during and within the hour or so after my morning exercise, whic...

Re: Nocturia and drug treatment
While sleep apnea is one known cause of nocturia it sure isn't the only known cause. If it were me I would be talking to the doctor about maybe over active bladder in view of the frequency of urination during the day as well as night time. IMHO...I would have done that before going with the uppers ...

Re: Nocturia and drug treatment
If your sig. line is not out of date, your min. pressure is only 5, which is very low as far as therapeutic effect goes. Have you never tried raising it by a couple of cms? Thanks Julie, yes I have tried that. It didn’t make any difference to my waking/nocturia and I find the starting pressure of 5...

Nocturia and drug treatment
Hi all, Hoping for some feedback- I was diagnosed with severe OSA in November 2017 - average 87 AHI per hour. I’ve suffered from nocturia for many years and was delighted to think cpap might end that for me. I started cpap immediately, have been stringent and consistent with my use, and all the stat...

Re: Any suggestions for continued nocturia?
3 questions..... Do you have to go pee several times during the day? Or can you go hours without having to go pee? Do you go more during the night than you might during the day? In answer to your questions: Yes, I do have to go several times during the day, but it used to be worse before I was diag...

Re: Any suggestions for continued nocturia?
Many leave the high pressure setting at 20, or not far from it - it's the low setting that 'counts' in terms of addressing apneas, and if it's too low it can take too long to reach the levels events occur at - e.g. anything over 10 or 15 in time to stop them. I was assuming that because my AHI is g...

Re: Any suggestions for continued nocturia?
Hi, sorry about the mix-up (should have paid attn to your name). I would definitely raise the low pressure by at least 2 or 3 cms and I think you'll do a lot better - 4 is the machine's default low and I'm surprised you can breathe at it! As you can see, I figured out the "quote" thing haha. I've a...

Re: Any suggestions for continued nocturia?
Thanks all for those suggestions. I will definitely go back to the doc for that blood glucose test. Re other points (sorry, I'm not a regular forum user so I don't know how to reference other people's comments.... ): Julie - thanks for the tip re pressure - I was thinking the opposite, that perhaps ...

Re: Any suggestions for continued nocturia?
I'm a 47 year old female, so not sure the prostate thing applies I do have quite high visceral fat and suspect there is a little bit of a glucose issue, although I did have several tests in the past that all came back as normal range. That could of course be different now so it could be worth a foll...

Re: Any suggestions for continued nocturia?
Hi, thanks for your quick response! I drink quite a lot of water in the morning when I exercise and then early afternoon as well. I do drink green tea in the morning but am careful not to have that after about 3pm. I don't drink any sugary drinks as a rule but occasionally I'll have a can of diet co...
