Re: Anyone use oral appliance with CPAP ?
I have a custom made oral device from my dentist that I wear concurrently with my CPAP. It is actually for clenching which was showing up as jaw bone deformation on my dental x-rays, but does bring my jaw forward a slight amount. It is quite small - full coverage along the back bottom teeth and a j...

Re: Anyone use oral appliance with CPAP ?
I use a boil and bite snore stopper set with my lower jaw forward slightly and a 4 in. cervical collar, along with my Cpap machine. I had all the problems that you list, and I also had a MAD made for me several years ago with the same results you had. I find that the cheep boil and bite works bette...

Anyone use oral appliance with CPAP ?
Hi everybody, has anyone tried using both cpap and a MAD device ? do you think using both helps, and do you think it would lower the cpap pressure required ? I already have an oral appliance, but I cannot use it alone because the advancement I need is too much for my jaw to handle. Also, CPAP alone ...

UARS, 5 years treatment and hit a wall
HI everybody, Tried almost everything in the book, and cannot get my sleep right. I'm afraid it will never get better. I think my main problem is I cannot get up to treatment level pressure. From the titration study below, I need between 7-8cm. I cannot even get 8cm consistently without aerophagia, ...

Re: Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
Thanks Palerider, yep, all the settings are correct. Triple, quadruple, quintuple checked. And rigght, of course the philips has to measure pressure and air flow. Maybe a difference is the resolution of the sensors ? I.e. the sensitivity. In the resmed manual it says the airsense measures pressure a...

Re: Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
A block tubing with an 1/8" hole is used during calibration on the CPAP. But you want to see if the pressures and flow remain stable as the unit is running at a steady state. If the calibration is off it can cause the bouncing you are talking about. Interesting! I see from your profile you're exper...

Re: Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
Thanks Jas and Palerider. Tried without EPR yesterday, and posting a graph here as well. Even with EPR off, I still feel the pressure irregularities. Looking at the graph, the mask pressure just seems too active for a constant CPAP w/o pressure relief ? But maybe not.. Maybe I'm starting to be convi...

Re: Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
Hi WRX03, block the tubing ? haha, sorry what do you meant exactly ? Posting another graph from the middle of an hour nap today. Zoomed in on the mask pressure. At the bottom of exhalation, it overshoots to get the pressure back up, and I feel that "bump" in pressure when I'm awake. And I feel the p...

Re: Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
Great, thanks a lot Dog Slobber! Exactly what I was looking for. Your graphs do look different, and the way all my graphs have looked prior to the new device (also while awake). Yours are much smoother than mine. If you look at my graph, the many small bumps in the graph, I feel that while breathing...

Re: Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
Thanks Pugsy, good idea! I imagine it's not FOT because it's constant. These tiny changes in pressure never go away. I've never had graphs like this, and I just tried the device for another hour. Same problem, same squiggly graphs. (attached) IMO, definitely a device malfunction. A loose ball-bearin...

Problem with New Resmed Airsense 10
Hi everyone, I just bought a brandnew airsense 10 for her, and when I tried it straight out of the box the cpap was pumping air.. especially on exhale. It was so much that I thought, ok this device is broken. After trying all the settings and using it for 10 minutes, it started becoming more normal....

Re: Pressure support induced CAs -- Diamox ? Other solutions ?
Thanks Pugsy and Jnk, really helpful. Jnk you mention an entirely new consideration, a lengthened pause in breathing b/w transition states which includes when arousals happen I assume. Pugsy, really interesting example -- only I can't see the pictures you uploaded for some reason. I think the links ...

Re: Pressure support induced CAs -- Diamox ? Other solutions ?
Thanks Pugsy, posting here two more pics that are pretty typical and seem to appear a lot. INterestingly they're often preceded also by a large inhale/exhale, which made me think I was flushing out too much CO2 leading to the CAs. If mislabeled, do you think these are obstructive or hypopnea ? They ...

Re: Pressure support induced CAs -- Diamox ? Other solutions ?
Thanks Pugsy! Actually, yes, for a lot of the CAs it looks like they're preceded by a FL, H, or multiple UFs. Posting one here, though a lot are more dramatic than this and some definitely seem like arousal-related CAs. What do you think from this graph ? Sorry if I posted unnecessarily, just always...

Pressure support induced CAs -- Diamox ? Other solutions ?
Hi all, has anyone successfully tried diamox for centrals ? Took it a few nights and it seems to reduce CAs but I always seem to get joint pain and fatigue from it the next day. Why I'm asking : Got a bipap about a month ago, and still trying to dial in the settings. I need more IPAP but have reache...
