Re: REM only mild apnea
No, I wasn't told to stop CPAP prior to the sleep study. Thanks for mentioning the washout effect - I'll make to sure to ask during my next follow up and also weigh it against my experiences - past and current.

REM only mild apnea
I am looking for feedback what it means to have REM only apnea and share any relevant info that you are aware of this type of condition - mainly the use of positional devices. Below is summary of analysis and recommendation of my Jan '22 PSG. I have a follow up with my neurologist in a week and woul...

Re: Relapsing symptoms experience and coping
Just a follow up in case someone stumbles on this thread and find it helpful. An year since I last written, I found few episodes of relapsing symptoms (ranging from couple days to 3 weeks) and observed what the causes are in my situation. These relapsing symptoms are not as bad as pre-xpap days but ...

Re: Feel good markers other than AHI
I also need to look at my flow limitations. I find that even with lowish AHI I still may not that fully rested feeling unless my flow limits are controlled. At my sleep test my AHI was 17 or 18 (Cannot recall which), but my RDI was 56. I can have my AHI treated at a pressure of 10, but to fully tre...

Re: Feel good markers other than AHI
Some benefit from a pressure slightly higher than what fixes AHI in order to keep the airway as constantly stable as possible. Those people, I believe, tend to do best on a straight CPAP pressure at the level needed to do that, since such ones don't always do well with depending on an APAP, or on h...

Re: Feel good markers other than AHI
I don't know that I would go chasing pressure settings based on what very well could be related to post surgical trauma to the tissues that just needs time to heal up. You could be chasing a variable every night due to the healing process. I know you seem to like a tight range but if it were me I w...

Re: Cpaptalk.com vs Apneaboard.com
I probably like most have joined both forums when beginning my hose therapy. Very quickly learnt the filtering of cpaptalk.com keyword from their site. It's a good site too and respect whatever policy is theirs to filter out cpaptalk.com but I feel and IMHO what you can't find there you can here and...

Re: Devices/programs to help evaluate sleep status
My observation on FitBit Charge 2 from 2 months of daily usage. - Fitbit has two modes - normal and sensitivity. Below feedback is based on 'normal' as I understand 'sensitive' mode throws charts off bit and I didn't dare to try - I have compared and correlated the Fitbit recorded data with actual H...

Feel good markers other than AHI
I am in a strange situation and like to hear some feedback I had been on hose therapy for 7 months now and after first 4 months was able to determine what would work for me. Last 2-3 months have been a game changer for me after finding the narrow pressure change that was helping me have good days. A...

Re: One year in and I still feel horrible
It took me over 4 months to understand what would work for me and till then my AHI was <1 (similar to yours i.e. in the normal range) from DAY 1. However I was NOT feeling good mostly (not as severe as you) but clearly therapy wasn't showing results as it is expected if you believe in the AHI number...

Re: Jaw pain from CPAP. Possibly not lining mouth up correctly?
Is it you upper jaw or both? For me couple times I had problems with jaw pain it was because of the size of the full face mask. I was using the Airfit F20. Bottom portion of the medium size cushion would come close to pressing my lips (and consequently lower jaw) so switching to large size resolved ...

Re: Relapsing symptoms experience and coping
Here's my own personal theory on the honeymoon effect....it's just my own theory and I have nothing to back it up. Remember sleep apnea symptoms sneak up on us slowly and the body sort of slowly adjusts so the untreated way of life or feelings become the new "norm". Then we get started on cpap and ...
