Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
As a quick update, I have my dreamstation at fairly default values, meaning that the A Flex setting was turned on and set to a level of 2. I had noticed when waking up that the Flex tends to push air only for about half of my amount of breath that I would take, meaning that it's easy to breathe then...

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
Thanks, I've got sleepyhead, and will collect more recent data and post relevant details.
I've never been on any meds other than cold medicine which is generally OTC. I took vicodin maybe 15 years ago when I had teeth pulled, but that's about it.

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
Hi everyone, I thought I would give you all an update, but, *spoiler alert* the doctors can't find anything. After the posts here, I went to see my GP and told her about the situation. She recommended that I do an overnight study, and we booked it for about a month later. I tend to have good weeks (...

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
Please let us know what you find out. My blood pressure has also always been low, so I didn't like hearing that cpap lowers blood pressure! I sure don't need mine any lower. If your doctor does think that's the reason for your symptoms, hopefully they can suggest something to help you. I'll look to...

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
Have you had your B12 checked recently. It can account for many weird and wonderful symtoms. Slurred speech and dizziness among them, especially if you have other symtoms that you don't want to mention because your focused on the symtoms that concern you the most. The range that is considered norma...

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
The T in TIA stands for transient. So, by definition, a TIA resolves with no residual symptoms within 24 hours. If symptoms don't resolve, it's considered a minor stroke (which is what I had even though my symptoms resolved in less than 24 hours.) A stroke (as opposed to a TIA) will show up on an M...

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
Hi edmundg, I also get a headache when I use my machine for the whole night, which is not very often. I usually sleep about 3 or 4 on, and 3 or 4 off. That will probably not go over well here but it seems to work the best for me right now. I had the mental fog before I got my machine but it is much...

Re: Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
... This brings me to my main issue: In the roughly 6 months that I've been using the CPAP, I now have a new issue. When I sleep for 7+ hours, in general I will wake up a bit dizzy, which stays with me for a few hours at least. Additionally, I am very prone to fumbling things now like keys, toothbr...

Lack of mental focus, slurred speech after starting CPAP
Hello all, first time posting here, so I'll give you my story and hopefully it leads to a better understanding of what could be wrong. Nearly 2 years ago in February of 2016 I had roughly a month where I was extremely tired all of the time, and my energy and motivation were fairly low. I saw doctors...
