Re: No CPAP, Great Night's Sleep
Ya know there is some really good information & some very helpful people on this board, but there are a hell of a lot of trolls who go into attack mode anytime a contrarian point of view is posted. There isn't a doctor out there that will tell you every single treatment works for every single person...

Re: No CPAP, Great Night's Sleep
Not (remembering) waking up does not necessarily mean you had a great nights sleep. No it doesn't, but waking up feeling more refreshed than I have in months certainly does! And I am not in denial folks. I've use the machine religiously for a year and feel absolutely no different than the 50 years ...

No CPAP, Great Night's Sleep
Went to bed late last night and forgot to change out the Amara mask for my Dreamware mask, I didn't want to wake my wife so I went without CPAP. Best night's sleep I've had in months a straight 6.5 hours! As I've previously mentioned I am at a crossroads with CPAP and last night's experience has me ...

Re: At What Point Do You Give Up On A New Mask??
I once gave a mask 90 minutes before it was removed to never darken my face again. Some masks simply don't work well for any number of reasons including just not being good for a person's facial structure. Time to move on to something else. Do you have facial hair? And why working with a full face ...

At What Point Do You Give Up On A New Mask??
As the title states when do you give up? I got the Amara mask and have not had good success with mask fit. I was originally fitted by the DME with a Medium, but after nights of 19, 76, 50 & 35% mask fit and AHIs over 10 with 2-3 hours sleep, I went back and they fitted my to a Small mask. I have the...

Re: Does excercise worsen central apneas?
I train daily with heavy aerobic activity one day and weights the next. I had some down time due to a shoulder surgery and noticed or saw no difference.

Re: Six months into CPAP therapy...
I just passed the one-year mark and have the same issue as you. Still exhausted all the time regardless of time on machine and AHI. I joined here with the hope of continuing therapy, but if things don't improve in the next 3-months I'll be selling a Dreamstation with low miles on it.

Re: Dry mouth help
Excessive dry mouth is what lead me to seek out this forum. I've tried Biotene right before getting in bed and it seems to last long enough for me to fall asleep, but at some point I wake up with the Serengeti in my mouth. I've tried the Xylamelts and the results have been hit or miss. I still end u...

Re: Amara View - Not what I expected
I just got the Amara based on the positive recommendations here, but I've also had a very difficult time with it. It is so much louder than my Dreamware nasal pillows and the pressure seems much stronger with the full face mask versus the nasal pillows even on the ramp. The real challenge is getting...

Re: Newbie Seeking Path Forward
Last night was my first night with the Amara mask and it was a disaster. First was the noise, it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel and made it very difficult to sleep. Next was the force of the air, which seems like twice my normal pressure again making it difficult to tolerate. I'll keep trying, but...

Re: Newbie Seeking Path Forward
Met with my doctor yesterday and discussed some of the challenges I have been having. He was against me going back to Ambien every night and instead wants me to to try a new mask that covers my mouth to see if that will help. I argued against it, but remembered seeing others here liked the Amara mas...

Re: SleepyHead and Apple Macs
Preferences ,Security and Privacy. Put a check in the bottom one ( app store and identified developers) I had to use this to install sleepyhead.I keep this setting and I have no problem. Yes, I know I can do that. As I said in my post above, I want to be able to STILL block all non approved apps, b...

Re: Newbie Seeking Path Forward
The fixed pressure at 8 simply couldn't do the job. Usual suspects are REM and supine sleeping and since your ugliness was worse later then REM comes to the top of the list because that's when we tend to have more REM. Needed more pressure for whatever reason at that time. This is where the auto wo...

SleepyHead and Apple Macs
Does anyone know if there is a setting on a MAC that will allow Sleepy Head to run while still blocking all other Apps not from the App store. Every time I open Sleepy Head I have to go into Preferences, General, Unlock, Allow Apps Downloaded From Anywhere and then when I'm done go back into prefere...
