Re: On a bipap trial, not sure about settings?
PS is the key to the 2 distinct pressures. When it is set at 0 your EPAP is going to equal IPAP...and that like an apap. It can move but PS remains at 0 so only one pressure is moving. Right now your PS setting is Min PS 0 Max PS 0 so your machine can't make use of the available 2 distinct pressure...

On a bipap trial, not sure about settings?
Due to the problems I had with my previous CPAP usage (chronicled here: http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=155320&st=0&sk=t&sd=a), my doctor had me go through another in-office sleep study. It once again found that I had OSA with an AHI of 20. This time they are trying to see if BiPAP works...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Thanks for the response, Actually, the past few nights at 9-20 pressure, I've noticed that I'll sleep for an hour or more with no apnea events. It's like a switch was flipped, or something. Now I'm just going through the whole "keep the mask on if you wake up half asleep" thing. But apparently, it's...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
I guess it just worries me that the AHI is apparently so high while I'm asleep. Like, if I crop that report above to just include times when I'm asleep, the AHI is about 55-60. My sleep study (without any machine) was 15. Is it normal that your AHI is higher than your baseline, let alone that much h...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Got a new mask and some sleep data at 7cm. As expected, 7cm doesn't really do much at all. At least I'm getting better at falling asleep with the mask on. I notice I'll sleep for anywhere between 5-15 minutes at a time, and wake up again. Which sort of lines up with the apneas on the graph. Here's t...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Interesting. I'll be sure to keep trying every night (at least for a few hours) at a stable pressure for a while. I'll followup with my doctor as well to see if they have any ideas. I'm worried that at this point, they'll come back to me and say "Well, you're fiddling with your pressures so much, no...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Haha, sorry, I think we keep misunderstanding each other. Here's the two sleep studies I've had, just for clarity: 1. October 2016, pre-OSA diagnosis. Home study, no oral appliance. Showed an AHI of 8. 2. April 2017. In-office study, wearing an oral appliance. Showed an AHI of 15. I don't have the r...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
I checked the machine hours and they seem to match the therapy hours that I've used the machine for.

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Well the home sleep study (that was without an oral appliance, because I hadn't been diagnosed with OSA yet) showed an 8 AHI. So I don't believe the oral appliance was helping much, since when I used it my AHI was 15 (even ignoring the margin of error between a home sleep study and an in-office stud...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Thanks for the questions! 1. My insurance is through Cigna, who has actually been good with paying 100% of things, but the process of getting to that point has been slow and frustrating. They work with another company called CareCentrix to deal with CPAP suppliers, which is super frustrating. I can ...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Thanks for your responses. Here's the picture you requested: https://image.prntscr.com/image/SJftDXfNRGG0Y8-QqhPvog.png I bumped it up a bit because it seemed like I was getting apneas right as I fell asleep at 10, so if I could get used to falling asleep at a higher pressure, at least that might gi...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
I fell asleep right as those OAs started happening, I was awake before then. I also stayed in the same position throughout my short 20-25 minutes of sleep.
Could these OAs actually be CAs? I have no idea how accurate the machines are at distinguishing between the two.
Just grasping at straws here

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Thought I'd post this since I was brutally awakened anyways: I tried auto pap at 14-20, fell asleep around 12:45am or so, and then had the familiar experience of being disturbed awake again. Here's what SleepyHead shows: http://i.imgur.com/nyZiro9.png I wonder if maybe everything above 10 pressure i...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
Thanks for the advice! I'll give auto a shot tonight, and I also think a new mask might help a bit. I'm waiting for my CPAP supplier to get Amara Views in stock, because this F10 blows air everywhere, and I hate having a mask so high up on my nose (I feel like it's pulling/pushing my eyelids open, f...

Re: New user, high OAs followed by waking up
The leaks aren't making it into large leak territory but if they are waking you up they need to be fixed. Of the roughly one hour that you posted....how much of it were you actually asleep? If you were asleep for most of the hour then the pressure of 10 works some of the time but not all of the tim...
