Re: New, Severe, Really Concerned
Quick question, you guys are so knowledgeable - Has anyone ever heard of severe sleep apnea appearing out of no where one day? Besides getting it under control, that’s what the doctor are concerned about now - the suddenness. No but I had sleep apnea for years with out knowing it. I just slept thro...

Re: Still can’t Exhale
I know when I first was at a pressure above 7 that it felt difficult to exhale I can now comfortably exhale at a 14 pressure, my lungs and or brain just needed to get used to it, and I did feel kind of panicky when it first happened. I just had to breathe slowly (which was all I felt I could do anyw...

Re: Frequent Night time urination.....and apnea
i certainly had bad nocturia before cpap and almost none immediately after. first day it improved quite a bit... now i don't even have to go in the morning. point being if you have a spare set up you could have him try it at no cost.

Re: Too much minimum pressure?
I would agree also that there are not enough data points. That being said there is another explaination to consider. Some get more apnea's when they are in a deeper sleep. I upped my min and my ahi went up during that time, but if I upped my min even higher my ahi went back down again. My theory is ...

Re: Covid-19, CPAP cleaning regimen
I wasn't aware of what their exact position was, but I wasn't optimistic that it would happen that soon. Production alone would take some months to ramp up, I would think. It's possible that they could have some new treatments for infected people earlier than a vaccine. I'm praying that a good new ...

Re: Covid-19, CPAP cleaning regimen
Even if it goes dormant over the summer, it'll be back in the fall. If we're lucky, we'll have a vaccine by then. Why do you think we could have a vaccine by fall? The FDA, NIH and CDC says testing will take at least a year after a vaccine has been developed. You're correct. I think it depends on h...

Re: Covid-19, CPAP cleaning regimen
It’s astounding how quickly things evolve and change. Because my son has pulmonary issues this virus really scared me. I love living in a small Colorado mountain town but it wouldn’t take much to overwhelm our small town hospital. When I started this thread a few days back I myself felt like maybe ...

Re: Covid-19, CPAP cleaning regimen
It's ok to use tap water, but you have to be meticulous about keeping the water chamber clean to avoid mineral deposit buildup. Actually, cleaning it every month or two is fine, depending on how fast the mineral buildup happens. People all over the world use tap water. I've had pink slime build up ...

neti pot/bulb with 50% water and 50% hydrogen peroxide There is no medical literature that supports the use of any amount of hydrogen peroxide for nasal rinses. Yep and we all know that Science knows every thing  . That's why I said use at your own risk. There may be no published studies, but...

Re: Covid-19 - Extra Protection from CPAP?
Covid-19 is nothing to panic about, CPAP or not. So far 9 Americans have died of it. As of today 6,758 Americans have died through gun violence this year, and roughly 647,000 will die from heart disease this year. I'd be more worried about not getting shot and eating well. Hmmmm. Well one Harvard s...

Re: CPAP use causes major sinus problems
Problem is, this is winter in Colorado, which has THE DRYEST climate of any place I've ever lived. I think I've already tried it without the humidifier on and I still end up with problems, but maybe I'll give it another go. Maybe not until after Christmas holiday, though, because man, I do NOT want...

Yeah, I always thought I was "fine" and just getting old. Now with under 2 (usually much lower) AHI, and enough time to heal, I feel like a super hero.

Re: Covid-19 - Extra Protection from CPAP?
No need to worry about Covid19. I've looked at the data and there's no avoiding it. Might as well settle in and enjoy the ride.
