Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Shoot. Quoted before a kind person alerted me to my pre-coffee foible. Yet you still understood what I was saying! Kudos . Yes, humidifier, not dehumidifier, and yes, that can really affect your sleep. Hopefully you can add one? It's harder to breath through a dry mouth .. an throat. Could be somet...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

You mentioned your machine doesn't have a dehumidifier. My ahi is way worse without one. Literally feels like I glue shut. Even if your situation is t that extreme, lack of humidification could cause a problem. And if it's an APAP I would certainly use it as one. I'm new here. Take my advice with a...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Sorry guys going to have to try again tonight, I swear I took a screenshot of the results on my phone but I can't find it. Overall ahi after 6.5 hours sleep last night was 30.
Don't mean to waste your time folks...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

So tried your advice Pugsy, tried 20 minutes, ahi 0, decided to try a bit longer, another 25 minutes or so, AHI 27. So appears something is amiss, been breathing fine. Could still be the heat maybe, the air coming through is still really warm. Got two fans running to cool the room now. Anyway, bed t...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Update - Haven't managed to get through to the clinic at all today, stuck in work so haven't had much chance to call but when I have there has been no answer which is a pain but I'll keep trying. This may not apply to you, Beechboy, but I recently had a big increase in obstructive apneas. A wonderfu...

Well, not rising but if you have a bowl of ice water and put a fan next to it then it will blow colder air/water vapor about to cool things down even more.

Figured it might be a way to get some cold air running through the machine.

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

I wasn't sure if the fan might've been an issue, though maybe it was disrupting the air that vents out causing issues somehow. No humidifier on my machine I'm afraid but the ice cube idea has inspired me, may try putting a bowl of ice cubes in water next to the machine to see if it draws in some of ...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Sounds like the first hour is the worst. Are you using ramp? Any chance your throat is a bit swollen form allergies? It may be fine during teh day, but could make it easier for your throat to collapse while asleep. The air could be helping, which would be why the events improve during the night. Ca...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Just had roughly over another hour with it, same sleeping position, no fan, only had 1 more obstructive apnea register. Average now down to 27. And also should say the mask fit has always shown as 100% and I've never felt any leaks. I wear the mask quite tight, doesn't feel uncomfortable to me. Than...

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Hi folks, just saw the newer messages. As for the CPAP/APAP mode no idea why it's only on CPAP mode, I can't change that anywhere in the settings. May have been like this since last month when I saw the nurse. As for airway issues, I have felt slightly blocked up with hay fever but nothing terrible....

Re: Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Nothing booked yet, it's the weekend and my doctors and the sleep clinic won't be open today.
I'm hoping it's just down to the heat and stress, trying to remain positive.
I've only been on the Cpap machine for 2 months, can't see how it would escalate so much in one night.

Drastic increase in Obstructive Apneas

Hi guys and gals, just looking for some sort of help or reassurance here. Over the last few days my AHI, namely the amount of Obstructive Apneas, has shot up to shockingly high levels, the last two nights having an AHI of 56.7 and now 65.9. I actually woke up at 4am this morning, and saw my AHI was ...
