Re: Newbie to CPAP

Looking for some help on choosing a new mask. I currently use the Quattro air full face mask but switching to the ASV machine has upped my pressure causing leaks. I'm finding to keep a good seal I have to really tighten the straps down causing cutting and bruising on the bridge of my nose. I tried m...

Re: Newbie to CPAP

Pugsy, I had a physical and full blood panel done May 16th. The only thing my Doc (PCP) noted were my Vitamin D levels being low, on a supplement for that. No other issues or medications. Not sure why, but my sleep doctor has decided to refer me to a Cardiologist, appointment is Thursday for an echo...

Re: Newbie to CPAP

Pugsy,

I remember waking 1 time last night to remove my T-shirt, not sure what time it was (didn't look at the clock). Then I woke up around 5am tossing and tuning so I shut the machine down. My AHI has looked really promising from day 1 of starting this machine.

Re: Newbie to CPAP

I have completed my 12th night on the ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV. I know it is early in the treatment but I'm still waking up tired as hell in the mornings. Here is a screen shot of last night, can someone take a look and give me some feedback. Hopefully this is the correct info you need. Thanks http://...

Re: Newbie to CPAP

Received my ResMed Aircurve 10 ASV today. I'm both excited and nervous to use it. I went to the clinical menu settings to verify my pressures and they are not matching what was written on the script. Here are the script pressures again from my doctor: Max Pressure: 25 cm H2O Expiratory Pressure: 20/...

Max Pressure: 25 cm H20 Expiratory Pressure: 20/7 cm H20 Pressure Support Max/Min: 10/5 cm H20 Rise: -- Backup Rate: Auto I-time: -- I still do not understand how this machine works. Re: Newbie to CPAP

Pugsy,

As always thanks for the help. I will call my idiot doctor on Monday and ask what each number refers to. The way I posted the numbers is the same way he wrote the script. So I'm guessing the CPAP shop will be calling to verify the settings. Pugsy, did the 02 saturation of 89% seem low?

Re: Newbie to CPAP

I got the results from my ASV titration and have a few questions. 1. At settings of 7/20/5/10/25 auto, they said near complete resolution of sleep apnea was observed. A residual AHI of 1.8 and a low 02 saturation of 89% was observed. I was hoping for better numbers but would like to hear some other ...

Re: Newbie to CPAP

I had my ASV titration and meet with the sleep doctor tomorrow to go over the results. I have decided to stick with the ResMed brand and will be ordering the ASV machine myself through Second Wind CPAP, tired of waiting on insurance. Second Wind told me i could get the machine this weekend if the do...

Re: Newbie to CPAP

I forgot to post the good news. Insurance approved my ASV sleep study and I will be going in tonight. Not sure what is going on but I'm really nervous for this study. I think I have done to much reading and have freaked myself out over the whole ASV and heart problems study. Would appreciate any adv...

Re: Newbie to CPAP

2 other questions. I have been reading on the ASV machine and read some alarming things about not using if you have heart issues. Does a person need to be checked out by a cardiologist and get the ok before starting with an ASV? What is a BIPAP ST machine? Will this machine take care of central apne...
