garmin vivosmart 4 vs cms50f

Hi everyone Just wanted to post a headsup. Last year I bought a garmin vivosmart 4, thinking it might help me track the oxygen levels during my sleep, as it's quite easy to wear and the battery keeps for a while. Well it was showing O2 levels down to 81%-84% almost every night, scaring me quite a bi...

Re: Humidifier and water quality.

Yes, the water in the bottle was crystal clear. not sure at all what happened. not sure I want to know, either :D And I now cleaned everything, back home, with vinegar and soap. The hose did not seem to have any such color, neither did the mask. But, at least to me, it was eye-opening that what can ...

Humidifier and water quality.

Hey everyone! It's a topic which crops up every now and then. Whether to use distilled water in the humidifier or if tap water/mineral water is also good. I went to Estonia for a few days, where it was impossible to find any distilled water. So I bought a bottle of still local mineral water. This is...

Re: Drooling question

I usually fold some toilet paper and leave it in the mask so it acts like a sponge, on the side of the mask -- works well most of the nights!

Re: Variables

Muse-Inc thank you, also good points. They're now on the list :) The others, you're right of course. And that's what I'd like to get to, where most of what can influence the therapy will be as constant as possible, and as optimized towards a low AHI as possible. As I'm still a newb, and you are all ...

Variables

Hi everybody! Trying to make a list of all the variables which might affect the therapy... What have your experiences been so far? So far: - Bed size - Related to bed size: Sleeping position - Bed softness - Pillow height - Food during the day (allergies) - Last eating time - Alcohol (even 1 beer 5h...

Re: Naväge Nasal Care anyone try?

Same here, I use a squeeze bottle with hot water.
No salt pods
No batteries
No suction
Cost around $5.95 at the local supermarket :P

Re: Eye and sinus infections with CPAP use

For what it's worth... I used to have blocked sinuses regularly. The humidifier settings helps keep my AHI down, so I couldn't change that too much.
Got a neti pot with salt water, and it helps keep everything clean in there now, (almost) no more problems.

Re: swimming tripling AHI

Thank you for your answers! What is the breakdown of your AHI? Obstructive apneas, hypopneas, clear airway? About 1/3 each, with slightly more obstructive events than the other two. When's the last time you had a regular cardiac work-up? About a year? I broke both knees and a hand last year. Why, wh...

swimming tripling AHI

Hi everyone! Trying to reduce my weight I started to go swimming after work. and it seems like every time I go swimming, it triples my AHI from approximately 4 to approximately 12. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Anybody had anything similar happen to them? Ideas: tired throat muscl...

Re: weight gain

same here, I gained about 40lbs since starting cpap therapy.
and actually eating less than before.
my theory so far is that I was waking up drenched in sweat before the cpap machine, so I probably had a good night's exercise every night.
now the nights are more relaxed.

Re: Kate's Therapy

Gah! I'm frustrated now! I am just too nice! I told the nice lady at the hospital that I was really concerned that I was maxxing out my machine, and that it was hard to breathe against 20 cm of pressure, and that EPR of 2 was not as comfortable as EPR of 3.... So she suggested setting it to a strai...

Re: Help finding the correct settings please?

Thank you - in the end I was so tired yesterday that it worked with 13.5, C-Flex 1 (first tried different settings, which is why sleepyhead shows 12.5)
