Re: Any reviews on Community Surgical DME?
I initially had a little trouble with them. I asked my doctor to write the script for Airsense 10 Autoset for Her, and their website said they had this one in stock. (I had to call 14 DMEs listed in my plan to find one that had it. The others were all telling me I would just get whatever they gave m...

Re: Bring Sleepyhead data to appointment?
I had a 90-day follow up with my ENT, who ordered the sleep study and dx'd me with severe apnea. I am a privacy freak, and keep my machine on airplane mode so it doesn't send data to the DME. I have great insurance, and they don't require compliance data, so that wasn't an issue. I printed out repor...

Re: Carrie Fisher died of Sleep Apnea?
Maybe because male doctors often write off damn near everything as menopause or "female problems". Sadly, some female physicians fall into the same stupid rut--as did the first doctor I ever FIRED. Yep, I was told my heart palpitations and night sweats were a common symptom in menopausal women. And...

Re: Perception of length of time while on CPAP
I'm two months in to my cpap journey. I used to sleep 9+ hours per night and not feel at all refreshed. Now many nights, I'm waking after 7 or 7 1/2 and feeling well rested, and not able to go back to sleep. Some nights I'd sleep more than that, but then was not able to fall asleep well the followin...

Re: Do you switch between masks?
I am a two-months new user of cpap therapy, and the first few weeks, I did just that - switched between two masks. My two were (are) the Airfit P10 nasal pillows and the Wisp nasal mask. Each had minor irritations but major benefits, so I switched back and forth, using each for several days at a tim...

Re: AAST newsletter and AASM info
Not only that, but using the criteria of ">4 hours per night, 70% of nights" tells us very little. 4 hours a night for 70% of nights, IMHO, will not yield nearly the benefits of 7 or 8 hours a night, 100% of nights. A truly well designed study would look at the outcomes for the latter group and comp...

Re: CPAP seems successful, but still having sleeping issues
I, too, have had a history of not being able to turn my thoughts off at night and anxiety. However, I prefer to take a natural remedy as opposed to Rx drugs, and have found what works for me very well. I take over the counter amino acid supplements. I take 200mg of l-theanine and 1000mg of GABA. Som...

Re: Why can't DMEs special order machine of choice?
I don' think it's as much about being lazy, but more likely it costs them more to special order a one off purchase. The was the system is structured (following the Medicare model) with a single payment amount for any machine if the same code, there is a disincentive to actually work with the custom...

Re: Why can't DMEs special order machine of choice?
The prescription is in fact written for that exact model. They don't seem to care. I'll do what I have to do to get one, but I am just super curious as to why they wouldn't just special order the darned thing.

Why can't DMEs special order machine of choice?
I was officially diagnosed with severe sleep apnea 2 weeks ago, but have been using a second-hand machine (Airsense 10 Autoset for Her) for 6 weeks because I was tired of waiting. I really like the machine, though haven't found my perfect mask yet. I have been calling around to the DMEs in my insura...

Thanks, Pugsy. It was on the secondwindcpap site in the faq section. It didn't sound right to me, so I appreciate your chiming in.

Nasal Pillows with APAP
I am still researching headgear and read on another site that nasal pillows are not recommended for use with APAP. They didn't explain why. In your experience, is this true? Thanks.

Good idea, thanks. I will do so once it arrives and when I also have a mask.Cardsfan wrote:You should go into your profile and add that machine info. to your profile info. It will make it easier for others to advise you in the future.

Re: Where to get APAP without prescription
Thank you, everyone, for your help. I found one and it's on the way. Now I'm off to research masks ... I have a feeling that will be a little more complicated.
