Re: New CPAP- from China?!?
Hesitant to wait simply because the machine is old and without it, there is no sleep. He's still using the DS1, but the latch on the humidifier is less than tight, and sometimes there's little floaty particles in the water chamber. The only backup machine we have is a very old inherited straight CPA...

Re: New CPAP- from China?!?
A bump to ask about another machine. After we told the China machine store no thanks, they encouraged us to check around town and see if anyone else had any luck because they had no clue when they’d see a ResMed again. After calling around and being laughed at with my question by some, one shop said...

New CPAP- from China?!?
Hello all- In the process of getting a new CPAP, finally through all the insurance hoops and jumps. Got the call to come get the new machine set up, and found out instead of the ResMed AutoSet anticipated, they have a "substitute" machine that came from China. Because of the recall, they say they ca...

Re: Insurance vs self pay
Talk to the approved DME. I believe most of the hoop jumping will be at their end, and they've had practice doing it. Unfortunately the dme company insurance recommended won’t give me any idea of what a monthly rental runs, or what the price they’ll charge to the insurance company so I could at lea...

Insurance vs self pay
Hello all. Curious how to figure out when it’s better to go the cash route or the insurance route when getting a new machine. The hubby has a DreamStation 1 from 5 years ago, and this recall replacement is awful random. When I called our insurance and asked about doing self-pay with reimbursement, I...

Re: Picking a backup machine- Apap user
Sorry...OG as in original. I got it when it first came out and was to be the best APAP ever sold....at least that's what my DME guy at the time told me...

Picking a backup machine- Apap user
Hello All- Just getting caught up to speed here on this whole Dreamstation fiasco and trying to determine what kind of backup machine I should get as a replacement. I'm an OG Dreamstation user since it first came out but realize I have to switch. I don't need any extra issues, especially since I've ...

Re: Trying to find the right mask sucks.
Thanks Pugsy! That does indeed look like it, just without the gel face straps. Is it supposed to go up the nose? The pictures I see vary. He didn't have it so tight to look like a pig nose or anything, but it wasn't loose. We tried the medium during a nap, but the large at bedtime because he said it...

Re: Trying to find the right mask sucks.
Hi again all- We are still experimenting over here in SleepyHubbyLand. We seem to be making some very small progress with the nose pillows. He used them almost all night but woke up about 5am and switched to a FFM because he said it made his nose hurt. Is that normal? I have tried to read up to make...

Re: Trying to find the right mask sucks.
Thanks everyone for giving me some insight into this. His big issue is that he's not feeling rested, ever. He also doesn't like how most of the masks dry out his eyes. Some of the masks also give him a dry mouth. I've tried tinkering with the humidity settings, but it always seems to get full of wat...

Re: Quest for the Golden Mask... Was: Trying to find the right mask sucks.
Also, just for background... do you regularly fit your husband's mask for him, or is this something he does himself? Have you viewed some mask-fitting videos? Has he watched any videos on mask fitting? Just wanted to make sure I answered this one...we both do it. He's done it on his own, and then I...

Trying to find the right mask sucks.
Hi Everyone. This group has been so helpful as I've helped my husband through his journey with his cpap. If he wouldn't have gotten his Cpap, I doubt we'd be married as I couldn't handle how he slept and sounded like he was dying throughout the night before he got a machine. So, needless to say, I'm...

Urgent Help Needed!! Cpap battery issues on night of hurricane!
Hi All! We use a Philips Respirtronics DreamStation. We also suffer from frequent power outages, including from hurricanes. We have Michael headed toward us, and I'm trying to re-hook up our medistrom backup battery and keep getting a message of "incorrect power source". We returned from being out o...
