Re: Is mouth taping safe?
I've been taping for nearly six years. Now "poppi2" are you covering your mouth up completely, 100% air tight. Is your nose good and clear? I do have somewhat of a deviated septum, but the doctor may have mentioned it, I can't recall. would nasal spray be a good idea, or is that addictive, or other...

Re: Is mouth taping safe?
I have taped a few times, but since I have a little GERD, decided it was a less than stellar idea. I can understand that. Well, if you don't hear from me, you'll know what happened...................................JK...............................I hope not........... Well, I'll tell you one thing...

Re: Is mouth taping safe?
I used to tape my mouth but was more to try and help with dry mouth and to protect my gums/teeth during sleep. I use a FFM but still was having problems with dry mouth. This method may not help for leaks if using a nose mask but as I said my goals were to keep my mouth relatively closed to cut down...

Re: Is mouth taping safe?
It may not be safe, although I think it is relatively safe. I used to have gerd and even when my stomach content would backflow up into my mouth there always would have been time to remove the tape. Now, I have fixed the GERD and last night taped and used a lose c-collar for the first time, or at l...

Re: Dry mouth problems
I recently bought the Biotene rinse and will see if that helps at all. That helps for about 30 seconds. Five minutes of mouth breathing and your mouth is dry again. What you need is dry mouth gel . Put a dab in your gums. Biotene has a gel, but I much prefer Oragel for Dry Mouth. You are 100% corre...

Re: S.O. - Taping with facial hair and chinstraps
Thanks, I used microfiber or micropore but I'm running low.
But it worked well.
Used a breath right, strips too, no dry mouth, but had stressful dreams.
That was my fault, I ate too late.

Re: Dry mouth problems
If you are not mouth breathing, or if the mouth breathing is very minimal, adding a neck brace, cervical collar, or chin strap is not likely to fix the problem. If you are doing enough mouth breathing for it to be a problem, then one of those ideas might help a great deal. Or switching to a full fa...

Re:
I used to tape my mouth, but I don't mouth breathe/leak very often anymore. As for suffocating if the power went off or the machine shut off, think about what's going on when you're using the mask with the machine running -- you inhale AND you exhale. There are vents on the mask. If the machine did...

Re: Taping safe?
Some folks who tape leave a note by their bed to let folks know that they are not trying to kill themselves! The only sure thing which I have learned is that if someone ever did die from taping, for some reason they don't post anything on these forums to tell the rest of us about it. If you would f...

Re:
Been taping for at least two years. Never had a problem. I have reflux and have coughed up some stomach juices one night--I ripped that sucker off in no time flat. I have never been able to get either of my FF masks to fit without leaks. Give it a try without going to sleep some time if that will m...

Re: S.O. - Taping with facial hair and chinstraps
The chinstraps I've all but given up on. Major comfort issues with me personally. I will possibly revisit them though if I can't get this damn Quattro FX tuned in to stop leaking during pressure increases. In regards to taping with facial hair, I've been oft tempted to try it but chicken out everyt...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP
pettyfan45, If you have good usage for the past 6 months, it should not be an issue. Since you are worried about it, I would suggest that you contact the insurance company and ask to speak to a patient case manager or some such person. Tell them what you've told us: You got the CPAP roughly 6 month...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP
I am concerned that insurance might stop paying for my CPAP if I get admitted for a few days and the hospital won't let me use my own machine there. Most insurance companies follow the Medicare rules, which are: Objective evidence of adherence to use (defined as use of PAP devices for 4 or more hou...
