Re: Child with sleep apnea
Alright, I phrased it wrong the first time. After that, I phrased it right.
In children, sleep apnea is strongly associated with mouth breathing. Removal of adenoids often cures the sleep apnea.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17721406 Removal of adenoids reverses sleep apnea There are more papers that show that it even reverses ADHD like symptoms. This is causation. I think there is a tendency on this board to jump to bold conclusions. Regarding your quote: It says that there is a mult...

Re: "We still don't know what sleep apnea is."--Dr. Barbara Phillips.
I just skimmed over it, but I think she is 100% right and some of you are being overly critical Not agreeing on a single definition is a huge problem in sleep medicine. Sleep medicine is moving extremely slow for some reason. I mean have you never asked yourself why AHI >5 has been used as a cutoff?...

Re: Resmed S9 turns itself off
Short update: Swapping out the SD card seems to resolve the issue. S9 sometimes has problems accepting SD cards and will refuse to work. Also I do not recommend using a cheaper machine from a Chinese manufacturer. It looks good, but the algorithm is simply not the same. Even though I chose the same ...

Re: Resmed S9 turns itself off
gWow, thanks for all the answers! It just seems confusing as it repeatedly shuts off once a night. I am currently working in China for a short time and just decided to buy a Chinese machine instead of solving the puzzle :) I was originally thinking about getting a new machine back home, but this one...

Resmed S9 turns itself off
Hello everyone! Recently, my S9 starts turning itself off in the middle of the night (3-5am). Now, I think I can exclude - Smartstart: Turned it off - Power outage I actually have a constant camera monitoring set up and can see that I suddenly awake. The CPAP shuts itself off and restarts when smart...

Re: Sleep Apnea’s Relationship with Alzheimer’s Disease
It's obvious. But sleep apnea does not equal sleep apnea.
If you are a severe case with constant desaturations, it's more likely to happen.

Re: sleep apnea and appetite decrease?
I have it! Granted, I don't suffer from sleep apnea per se, but UARS and Reflux. If I have a bad night, I won't be able to eat anything until the evening.
