Hi colomom, I'm just curious, how old was your son when he was diagnosed and how old was he when he finally recovered? My story mirrors your son's and I am in my early twenties and I need hope success stories to keep me going...

Are my sleepyhead graphs worrying? Please take a look.
https://imgur.com/a/Xro4A#3DeRokz So each one those lasts about 4-8 seconds. Even though they don't register on my machine(dreamstation bipap auto) as any sort of event, is it normal for your breathing to suddenly go flat when you're asleep, or is it indicative of a flow limitation, just that it doe...

Have mucus at the back of throat after UPPP.
Anyone else have this symptom? It's been 1.5 years after UPPP and I have this 'lump' at the back of my throat, like mucus building up. Apparently it's called VPI(Velopharyngeal insufficiency).

Need suggestions for a comfortable chin strap.
My mouth tends to fall open when I sleep. I ordered the deluxe style chinstrap(https://www.cpap.com/productpage/deluxe ... hleak.html) from cpap.com a few months ago but it feels itchy and disturbs my sleep. Anyone have comfortable chinstraps to recommend?

Re: High pitched whistling noise driving me crazy.
I had it shipped from USA (I'm living in south east asia where they mark the cost up by multiple times) and my experience with local dealers has been extremely poor, either they are rude and dismissive and can't be bothered, or barely even know how to operate the machine. I have this sinking feeling...

High pitched whistling noise driving me crazy.
I have this high pitched whistling when I turn on my cpap that is ruining my sleep. The volume and pitch changes when I breathe in vs when I breathe out and it goes away the moment I turn the machine off so I definitely know that it's due to cpap. It's either from the machine itself or the hose. It ...

Re: 6 weeks in, no improvement whatsoever, losing all hope.
Hi Robysue, let's just put it this way, it's hard to put on the mask and use the machine every night when you're severely depressed. I even find it difficult to shower or to brush my teeth, it takes a lot out of me to muster up the energy to 'prepare' a night on cpap. especially when every attempt h...

Re: 6 weeks in, no improvement whatsoever, losing all hope.
Well we can probably help with the Cpap stuff if we have some idea of what's what - like which model of what machine (not just "Resmed' plse) do you use? Which mask? At what pressure settings? Are you using the ramp feature? Set up how? What meds do you take routinely? What about alcohol? All the a...

Re: 6 weeks in, no improvement whatsoever, losing all hope.
Sounds like your issues go beyond that of sleep apnea, but to see what's going on what did your sleep study show? How about what your titration shows? Do you current treatment results match your titration results? You can download a free software called sleepyhead it's free to use and is listed alo...

6 weeks in, no improvement whatsoever, losing all hope.
I have been on cpap for 6 weeks(1.5 months now) and I still haven't gotten used to it. Trust me, I've tried many different setups, I have probably found the one that is the most comfortable for me personally,, so trying a new mask/new machine/new chinstrap or whatever won't work. It's not so much th...

Re: Depression, Suicide, Sleep Apnea and CPAP.
use it while you watch tv, your brain will get use to it and you won't notice its there. don't get frustrated, when you wake up read a book using incandescent non blue spectrum light, till you get sleepy again. no computer, iphone etc. sleep hygiene is very important once the apnea is being treated...

Depression, Suicide, Sleep Apnea and CPAP.
So I've been going to periods of major depression and suicidal ideations for the past 8 years. In the past year I was finally diagnosed with sleep apnea and UARS which was a major contributing factor to my depression. I used a cpap last year for about 1-2 weeks, found it intolerable, hated it, and g...

Are the health impacts of sleep apnea permanent?
I am 22 years old and was diagnosed with sleep apnea about a year ago. I am currently trying to get used to cpap, and have been reading up on the negative consequences of poor sleep, I am just afraid that the negative impacts are irreversible. Has sleep apnea stunted my brain development in any way?...
