Re: Cpap pressure too high

From the ResMed web site... How often should filters be replaced? If the environment is particularly humid or dusty, then the disposable filter won’t last for long. We recommend that your patient visually inspects the filter every month to determine whether the filter needs to be disposed. The reco...

Re: Cpap pressure too high

I've washed the larger filter several times and let it dry before using it. I've also replaced the disposable filter. I called the distributor to see if I can get another filter and they said no, it's not time yet, so I ordered some on Amazon :/ I did go too long w/o cleaning the larger filter. Per...

Re: How do you know if your mask is too tight?

Padacheek.com sells mask liners for the Wisp. Using one may help to relieve the red marks you are experiencing and may allow you to use a smaller size mask. It's important not to tighten the mask too far--the mask needs to inflate a little, like a hovercraft--and the extra tightness may make red mar...

Re: falling asleep issues

Ranman, I like to relax a bit before I turn on the machine, too; this is what I do: I put on my mask, climb into bed, go through my relaxation routine (but never so long as to actually fall asleep), and when I feel I'm nearing that point, I hook on the hose and let the auto-on feature take over. The...

Re: Help with security? {Canada)

Ryan, If you are sincerely looking for a home security contractor . . .then I will treat your query as an OT thread: Ask your family, friends, and other local contacts for their recommendations. Go to homestars.com (which provides reviews for all kinds of residential contractors in Canada), and sear...

Re: Best Current References or Resources for Newly Diagnosed?

I found the book Sleep Interrupted by Steven V. Park, MD, a useful source of information about sleep apnea. He's a board-certified ENT physician, specializing in sleep disorders. His writing style is geared to the layman, so although authoritative in scope, it is very readable. I see he has a new bo...

Thank you.

This thread is simply a small celebratory notice. I'll post in other threads when I have something to contribute to problem-solving discussions.

Re: And the journey begins....

No, I have not kept a journal as such, not in text form at least. I have the Sleepyhead record as well as Fitbit data most nights. (I continue Fitbit simply because that will give a good comparison of "before/after CPAP" of time awake/restless/asleep, and although I realize it doesn't register AHI ...

First Anniversary

I have now used my xpap for 365 nights. At the beginning, I wondered how soon I would get used to all the gizmos and gadgets and discomforts of a new process, and would I ever really feel better? (Good thing I have curiosity and perseverance qualities.) And zoooom! A year has passed. I look forward ...

Re: And the journey begins....

I'm discouraged. And tired. Supposed to try a third mask tonight, and am almost tempted to take a night off. Things had gone well, with low leaks, low AHI, and it seemed sleep was easier. Until this past week, anyhow. I didn't expect to feel like I was going backward, but I do. (And it is hard to a...

Re: Self treating with APAP, any advice is welcome !

Dry mouth indicates open-mouthed breathing. Nose masks may not be effective for those who breathe with mouth open because the pressurized air escapes the airway, rendering inefficient therapy. A full face mask is an option in that case.

Re: Strange disconnects

I've noticed this happening sometimes with my machine too. I've logged a number of them: only once per night; between 7 and 8 am; less than a second between stop and re-start; no rhyme or reason to which nights are affected (that I can tell, anyway). I also had one night where there was a gap of a c...

Re: Two nights in, several quesltions

My machine is a Dreamstation Auto CPAP, and it's set to 12. . . . The humidifier heater is not turned on. Is it supposed to be on? The only thing I get on my CPAP screen is how many hours of sleep I got with it on. Last night I had 7.5 (wow!) Isn't the screen supposed to tell me other statistics? W...
