Re: Resmed 10 vs 10 For Her
Thanks. What you said is what I always believed. Next question, does Resmed sell the 10 For Her with a usable modem, or did For Her die out with the 3G phone towers? I'm getting a "we don't stock those, so you can't have one because you get what we want to sell" vibe here. It's beginning to sound li...

Resmed 10 vs 10 For Her
Just got off the phone with my DME rep.
Was told something that surprised me...set an AS10's Response to 'soft' instead of 'standard' and it's the same as having a 10 For Her.
Is that true?

Re: Am I Cured?
1. How was your original diagnosis of sleep apnea done? Sleep lab test or what? 2. The AHI of 45 was that your official average from the night of your test? 3. What has changed in the last 14 months since you got that 45 number? 4. Did you lose a lot of weight? Etc... 1. In lab. 2. Yes. 3-4. Not mu...

Am I Cured?
Last year I tried self-titrating, stopped at 7" when I couldn't imagine a lower pressure being any more comfortable than 7. My events on sleepyhead were always few, and virtually all were from 11-15 seconds long, so they barely counted as events. This month I tried again, to find out what my minimum...

Re: What's the longest term user here?
cpap is lot like glasses, it just fixes the symptom, but not the cause. and if you quit using it, it's just like taking your glasses off, you can't see (breath) any better/worse than you could before you put the glasses (cpap) on. In my case, I think it has helped with the physical cause of my OSA....

Re: Second sleep study necessary?
I had my 3 month follow up last week. My pulmonologist turned sleep doctor was glad that I'd self-titrated and come up with pressure settings lower than he prescribed that still kept my AHI under 2. Instead of having just one night of sleep in a strange place to determine the best pressure levels, y...

Re: Fatigue Persists? Check your meds.
Interesting. I always assumed my OSA started in 2006 when my fatigue started, but the fatigue started shortly after I started taking Nexium (proton pump inhibitor) 2x daily. But I don't recall the fatigue going away in late 2007 when I quit the Nexium, and it has gotten better in the two months I've...

Re: Use Of CPAP Machines Being Questioned - Again!
The 1954 Salk polio vaccine trial is still used as an experimental design model in statistics classes, but always with the caveat : "We can't do it like this now". One big ethical problem was that the placebo controlled elements of the study had to be totally blind, if researchers (or even treating ...

Re: Airsense 10 Autoset turns itself off in use
One possible cause: The 120v cord was mostly, but not fully, inserted into the AC adapter.
Will just have to wait and see if the problem happens again.

Re: Airsense 10 Autoset turns itself off in use
I had a lot of worn outlets when I bought this house and I've been lazy about replacing them. I should have just replaced all of them before I moved in, would have taken me a couple of hours and not much money, and I'd have gotten it done with no furniture in my way. The outlet under the headboard w...

Re: Use Of CPAP Machines Being Questioned - Again!
Garbage In, Garbage Out, but we wasted our time on this study so by golly we're going to publish the results even though our data is fatally flawed by our CPAP treatment group not actually using their CPAPs. It might have been an interesting study, does CPAP usage affect cardiac health? But when you...

Re: Airsense 10 Autoset turns itself off in use
I suppose that's possible, but if it's happened before I didn't know it. I do get the impression this AutoPAP software doesn't like me, I lowered the pressure settings after the first week because it kept ramping up when not in OSA and waking me up. I especially thought it stupid when I figured out ...

Re: Airsense 10 Autoset turns itself off in use
My microwave clock is fine, a one second failure kills it. Any power disruptions normally trigger a cleaning cycle on my inkjet printer, and I never heard that happening. I just simulated a power failure, and I'm pretty sure it took longer to restart when I plugged it back in than it did when it une...

Airsense 10 Autoset turns itself off in use
Several times this morning (at least 3) my AS10 turned off (quit pumping air anyway) while I was laying in bed trying to get back to sleep. No beeping noises or error messages, just shut itself off as if I'd removed my mask and left it off long enough for auto-stop, but I was wearing the mask with n...
