I should mentioned the model. The kind i inherited is a Devilbiss intellipap Standard DV5HH. The kind i use currently is a Resmed Escape II (without the humidifier). Thanks for the tips. I'll change the filter and see if there are any other features in the Devilbiss. I'm not familiar with Sleepyhead

nose irritation from CPAP
I have been using a CPAP with nasal pillows for over 10 years and have never had a problem. Last night, after about an hour, i woke up with pain in my left nostril in the upper area whenever i breath in from the CPAP. It wasn't terrible but it kept me from sleeping so i had to sleep without the mask...
