Re: Recommendations for a back-up full face mask to my DreamWear
I switched from the Dreamwear nasal to the Amara View FFM around a couple of months ago when it seemed I'd started frequent mouth-breathing (terribly dry mouth on waking, loss of symptom improvement). I'd say it's worked quite well with fairly low leak rates, save those times I seem to get tangled u...

Re: New user intro and looking for Sleephead feedback
A note regarding increasing your max. pressure above 14 cm should you decide to do so. Be sure to monitor the number of CA's (Clear Airway or Central Apneas) that occur afterward. A CA count 50% or greater of the total AHI, or greater than 5 CA's per hour indicates treatment-emergent complex (centr...

Re: Oral Appliance for UARS
I have used a Resmed Narval MAD in conjunction with PAP but had started/stopped it multiple times over an 18-month period due to: Initially - Caused severe TMJ. Next - Thought it could be causing Tinnitus, which is also caused by TMJ. Most Recently - It does not appear to either lower my PAP pressur...

Re: New user intro and looking for Sleephead feedback
I used the Dreamwear for about the first 15 months of therapy, and I found the tube frame stretched over time. Fortunately I had purchased the variety size pack, and was able to experiment with different frame and pillow sizes. I ended up a frame size lower than initially (from large to med.) in ord...

Re: I Hate When My Mask Falls Off Mid Sleep...
It took me nearly 6 months to overcome the same situation. 'Lightweight' mittens, with the wrist straps pulled very tight (as I was inclined to pull off the mittens and then the mask) seemed to break me of it. I currently require a full face mask and an ASV hitting 25 cm IPAP peaks: the mask is stay...

Re: Secondwindcpap.com Review
I recently purchased a Respironics 960P ASV unit for a very good price from secondwindcpap - and I've been shopping around A LOT for used ASV's the past 3 months. Everything arrived in 'as-stated' condition (XYZ machine hours - check, like new - check) and on time. And Mark and Leslie could not have...

Re: Encountering some problems :-(
Have you thought about supine events (back sleeping) exacerbating the AHI? My AHI and sPO2 desats increase dramatically on my back. I wear a backpack with an air bladder in it just to keep off it! Just a thought...

Re: Need an ASV Machine or Prescrption
Sorry everyone, my use of the term Amara View full in the above was misleading, as I believe there are multiple Amaras. I have the Amara mask which fully covers the mouth, but has a nasal opening cushion built into the top of the mouth mask. Would the term Hybrid fit? The nasal opening looks similar...

Re: Need an ASV Machine or Prescrption
My sincere apologies to everyone for not replying sooner. I’ll do my best to be more timely here in the future, hopefully with something beneficial to others. Between work, travel, the holidays and the two little ones I kept getting off-track with posting and other important things (not to mention O...

Re: Need an ASV Machine or Prescrption
Thank you so much for the great info, Pugsy. Much appreciated! I do not have a history of any heart disease or issues, but may get an echo anyway to confirm my left ejection fraction % would not cause an issue on an ASV. Thank you for mentioning that.

Re: Need an ASV Machine or Prescrption
Thank you so much for asking. The first 3 months mask leak rates were unacceptably high. I struggled with APap therapy and thrashed about during sleep, the mask coming off or partially dislodging frequently. I tried 4 different masks: nasal pillow, full face, nasal mask, before finally settling on t...

Need an ASV Machine or Prescrption
Help! After 18 months of failed therapy, sleep studies, and thousands of out-of-pocket expenditures for devices and medical bills I beg this communities assistance. I am looking for a doctor within 2 hours drive of or in the Chicago area who understands and is willing to prescribe me an ASV machine....
