Lowered pressure from 8 to 5, AHI is 0.5 but a bit tired

Dear CPAPTalk, I could use your advice - My prescription is for a pressure of 8. But I was getting aerophagia so I lowered it to 5. I've been sleeping at the new pressure for about 30 days. The AHI dropped from an average of 0.91 (averaged over 90 days, no EPR) to 0.71 (averaged over 35 days, with E...

Re: Is an increased respiratory rate for hours bad?

Thank you! I talked to my doctor and they said that it might be a defect in the machine (Resmed airsense) which is known to report respiratory rates that are wac if you don't use their software (i.e. SleepyHead, where the above photo came from). I may need to get this bad boy checked out by Resmed t...

Is an increased respiratory rate for hours bad?

I have some symptoms of aerophagia I'm trying to reduce. Here is an example sleepyhead graph: https://www.dropbox.com/s/m0wyz8u6ncw7bgj/Screenshot%202017-03-23%2008.50.18.png?dl=0 It is similar to the past graphs - at some point in the night, when I'm in Stage 3 sleep (that's what I understand the s...

Re: Why does pressure jump so much? [SleepyHead pressure stats]

Thank you Pugsy! Here is the flow limitation graph: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yc1dlnqkq2ztdag/Screenshot%202016-11-11%2009.45.35.png?dl=0 I was getting a lot of aerophagia at using 11-13cm pressure, so I changed it to 7-10cm. I sleep decently if I don't have a high leak rate - sleeping on 4 pillows ...

Why does pressure jump so much? [SleepyHead pressure stats]

It looks like my pressure jumps to the max and then drops a few times in the night.

Here is the SleepHead report screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0hmm4m1yphsjn ... 8.png?dl=0

Does this mean I need to increase the pressure?

Thank you so much!

Re: No change yet

I've had a AHI < 5 since starting CPAP. I only started 'feeling the difference' once I started paying very careful attention to my leak rate and figured out how to eliminate all leaks (this involved sleeping on an incline): http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t113976/Could-new-nasal-pillows-be-stiff-a...

Re: Could new nasal pillows be stiff and causing leaks?

Just to follow up in case anyone else runs into this: The above post was a fluke. I kept having leaks, and varied everything until I found the thing that got my leaks to near-zero consistently. I even bought some mouthguards and tried to boil them and bend them into this device LOL: http://www.talka...

Do insurance companies cover CPAP supplies off amazon?

It seems that CPAP supplies (masks, machines, etc.) are a lot cheaper on Amazon than through a DME. Do insurance companies cover CPAP supplies bought off Amazon? I know my insurance (Aetna) covers out-of-network supplies at 80%, so I think that's pretty good - I would guess they do cover supplies fr...

Increasing pressure to avoid apneas in deep sleep?

I was looking at my statistics on SleepyHead and noticed some patterns. Here is an example (screenshot of last night): https://www.dropbox.com/s/hyfk8scvzkxae9h/SleepyHead%20Screenshot%202016-10-20%2008.08.16.png?dl=0 1) I never have apneas and hypopneas in the first half (~ first 4 hours). In the l...

Re: Could new nasal pillows be stiff and causing leaks?

I'm using the blue headgear. Just got a new mask so it's very tight, and I soak it in hot water to increase the tightness weakly. Over the past week I tried a bunch of things: - increasing humidity - using a mouthguard (even followed this construction guide but messed up lol: http://www.talkaboutsle...

Re: Could new nasal pillows be stiff and causing leaks?

Sounds good, thanks so much for the replies! I've been using Lansinoh every night, taping my mouth, and using the chinstrap so it must be the mask moving during sleep. I'll try adjusting it to be tighter. The Resmed video is good and I try to follow it. I just noticed my filter was very dirty so I r...

Could new nasal pillows be stiff and causing leaks?

Hi! I had an abnormally high leak level the past two nights. I just switched to new nasal pillows in the same size (Resmed P10 mask, size medium). The new pillows are much stiffer than the old ones. This may mean they move around less when I move around, and break the seal. Has anyone else experienc...
