Re: SleepyHead questions
I see my sleep doctor on 10/31. I only had a simple home sleep study. There was no titration study. Until 10/31, I won't know how he came up with the pressure numbers. I gather from looking around here that I can do my own titration easily enough. But I'm sure I have to get comfortable with cpap the...

Re: SleepyHead questions
My sleep doctor specified pressure of 4-12 on the prescription. I've found the ramp up too long, and shortened it to 5 minutes so far. His MO is just to send the prescription to a DME. I insisted on picking up the prescription in person (he does not use email, just fax). I gained 2 weeks by buying m...

Re: CPAP Basics - 19 - Cleaning and Disinfecting
I'm a newbie to cpaps, but have had experience with cleaning similar gear. So here are some thoughts, some of which have not been covered in this thread. I learned originally from the plumbing for my spa tub that biofilm is the enemy. It is the enemy wherever there is water. That's what plaque is, t...

Re: SleepyHead questions
OK. Sorry. I think I've followed the instructions. The only thing I worry about is that I have a large monitor and it may not show well on smaller screens. So let me know if that's a problem. Day 1: http://imgur.com/OmgOl1y Day 2: http://imgur.com/wH0VvS4 I only realize just now that the y scales fo...

Re: SleepyHead questions
Here is the report that confuses me. Why are there no events during high leak periods. Does it mean that the machine is coping, or does it mean that the machine cannot register events when the leaks are this strong? https://www.dropbox.com/s/mfxyqx11ghxp0f2/Pages%20from%20SH%2010-9-16.jpg?dl=0 Sorry...

SleepyHead questions
1. I forgot to set SD card to read only and connected it to my MAC. I deleted the files OSX added, but they are now in the Trash folder of the card, which I can't move or delete. When I put the card in the Resmed 10, I get no error message even when running the machine. Is there anything I should do...

Re: Advice needed on first cpap
Thanks everyone. I've used the machine for 2 nights, and it seems to be working. I even dreamed last night, so I must have had some REM sleep.

Re: Advice needed on first cpap
Thanks so much for everyone's help. I got my equipment today, and I have a question. I have a ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset and a Swift FX mask. When I try it out, air is escaping from the holes in front of the mask when I am inhaling. Cpap.com said it should not work that way. When I set the exhale ad...

Re: Advice needed on first cpap
Thanks for the advice. It's very helpful. As far as doctors go, once I get established with the cpap, I will email my in hospital cardiologist, my outpatient cardiologist, my dentist, my family doctor, all of whom are affiliated with the same teaching hospital, and tell them what I have learned from...

Re: Advice needed on first cpap
So, I think what I am hearing is that I can use my prescription to buy whatever I want. The prescribing doctor just ignored my instructions, but I can use it as I wish anyway. Is that right? And if my doctor wants reports, then I can provide them to him myself, it seems. This whole system of recordi...

Advice needed on first cpap
It has literally taken months to get a prescription from the extreme incompetence of the sleep clinic of the famous national medical center where I am being treated for heart failure. The prescription puzzles me. It says: DME/Supplies Prescribed: AutoPAP at 4-12 cm H2O and warm air humidifier. Pleas...
