Re: Been using CPAP for a week, need sleepyhead advice
Ah now I follow you! So in essence I will use it like a preventative thing to stop it from unnecessarily increasing the pressure while I'm awake? Yup. that's what the ramp feature is for. The xPAP will only "get serious, down to business" after u have fallen asleep." Once u get used to the machine,...

Re: Import duty and tax on bringing in a cpap from us to uk
the almost guaranteed way where you can avoid paying the taxes is to fly to the US, get the vendor to mail the item to your hotel, and u hand carry it back on the flight. Throw away any shipping boxes to avoid any questions at the customs. 1 machine should be fine, but 2 or more might invite some qu...

Re: Been using CPAP for a week, need sleepyhead advice
I should have used better terminology. I don't struggle to fall asleep with my pressure starting at 7, its the fact that occasionally it increases to my maximum pressure (10) sometimes for no apparent reason when I'm still awake. You can see it on the image that I linked. It's as if the machine thi...

PR Dreamstation Preheat feature
HI on the PR Dreamstation, there is a preheat feature to let u preheat the water in the humidifier for 30min before using. Tried this several times and I found it super hard to breathe in. Its like breathing in a sauna. I immediately threw away the heated water and replaced with room temperature wat...

Re: TSA and CPAP
I visited USA couple of months back. arrived/departed from Dulles airport.
The TSA just requested for me to leave the bags flap opened when I sent through the X-Ray. Nothing eventful from there.

Re: Been using CPAP for a week, need sleepyhead advice
What are your thoughts on the things I've written above? Right now I think the main thing I want to resolve is that annoying increase in pressure that wakes me up/keeps me awake initially! I feel like if I slept throughout the whole night without waking up due to the bloody pressure I would feel be...

Re: HOW TO: Disable Speaker on Philips Respironics System One
I'm using the PR dreamstation and this device does not seems to come with a speaker however, a dismantling guide will still be useful since I think we will need to replace the battery sometime in the device's lifetime (similar to our PC). The guide noted on the location of the battery, which is very...

Re: Art to choosing Nasal Pillow Size
so i tried the large pillow last night and this is what i found out. - the pillow is larger, so the tip barely enters the nose. - my nose don't feel sore, as compared to the medium However, it gets knocked out of place a lot more compared to the medium. As the tip of the medium pillow enters the nos...

Re: Art to choosing Nasal Pillow Size
Hi All Would like to check with fellow maskers, how do you determine the sizing for the nasal pillows? i tried all 3 and frankly, I could not tell which ones I should be using? Partly, I'm not sure how should the nasal pillow feel when I put on the mask. I was using the PR Nuance Pro. Recently, I'v...

Re: Minimum pressure
My 1-day 90% values was about 10-11 When I left it at the defaults of 4-20, my AHI was hovering around 3-4. I increased it to 7-20 now and my AHI has been quite consistently 1-2. So yea, fine tuning the min pressure might improve your AHI. However, try not to do a large increase overnight. The first...

Re: Is my new machine damaged?
There was an instance where I flung my cpap machine off the table onto the floor one night. It was a loud thud, but on visual inspection nothing seems broken. In fact there wun any signs of cosmetic damages.

Re: New CPAP User questions on items replacement schedule
Your mask shouldn't be on so tight that you can't pull it off over your head. Needing to constantly reset the velcro straps indicates to me that maybe you are doing that or you have the wrong size mask. I would expect many more complaints about your popular mask if it were made that shoddy. Perhaps...

Re: Newbie feeling very sad
The discomfort you described is probably what all of us had gone through. There is a period of time to adapt and to discover what works for you. The pressure, the gassy stomach, all these will pass once u have gotten used to the machine. Nowadays when I wake up, I took a look at the pressure on my A...

Re: Advice needed on first cpap
Thanks so much for everyone's help. I got my equipment today, and I have a question. I have a ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset and a Swift FX mask. When I try it out, air is escaping from the holes in front of the mask when I am inhaling. Cpap.com said it should not work that way. When I set the exhale a...
