Re: Lincare first machine advice
Oh that's right, the older units did come with different bricks/humidifier tops.
It's the Airsense 10 that always gets the 90W brick.

Re: CPAP Basics - 8 - Dealing With Difficult DME's
2. RT's are mainly trained for hospitals, they have little training for other jobs like working for a DME. A RT that has been at a DME for a while is usually better than a newer person. Most of the time it is a learn as you go job. True words. Which is why I, a DME RT, come to this forum... to lear...

Also, be sure to have doc include heated hose - you get a different power brick. You can always use a standard hose afterwards, but you would have to pay out of pocket to get it later. Can you share your source for this info, please? Our DME gets units packed by manufacturer with slimline tubing AN...

Re: Lincare first machine advice
With the drop in reimbursement rates, cpap is not a big money-maker and many DME's would not stress over losing a few patients who won't accept a cheaper unit. Your best recourse is to tell them you are going to contact your doctor about your disappointment... the DME's DON'T want to lose their refe...

Re: Overseas travel
According to Pugsy's very helpful link the pap unit itself has a power supply input range of 110V to 240V AC and therefore should be safe for the 220V you inquired about. The humidifier, however, appears only good for a power supply input of 110V AC.

Question re: Resmed Standard & Hypoallergenic Filters
I've had a few complaints of the Airsense/Aircurve 10 Hypoallergenic filters getting partially pulled into the unit, especially at higher pressure settings. Has anyone here had that problem? I have been under the impression (from my Resmed rep) that use of the Standard and Hypoallergenic filters is ...

Re: Distilled Water for Humidifier
Serratia marcescens is the bacteria that causes pink slime in wet places. It feeds off of phosphorus (a mineral) and fatty substances such as soap scum. Here is an entertaining as well as informative article: <link removed> That would explain why it is so often found in sinks but would mean to clea...

Re: HME re-use
From the US Department of Health and Human Services, an article dated 2012: "Passive humidifiers do not need to be changed daily for reasons of infection control or technical performance. They can be safely used for at least 48 hours, and with some patient populations some devices may be able to be ...

Re: Monthly Data Download Charges
But if Medicare will not pay it, I consider it a scummy, dishonest thing to do, and said DME would immediately LOSE my business and that of anyone I can influence. I remember the days when Medicare did not pay for humidifiers and the patient had to pay out of pocket if he/she wanted one. A humidifi...

I'm going to admit defeat on this subject and thank Guest for prompting me to do more research and learn something new. After all, that's why I came to this forum. Thanks, Guest! Good deal!!...was thinking of rolling the dice on this "autoset" that looks to be either an Aircurve asv but more likely an Aircurve auto or some other aircurve model....I mean it doesn't look like an airsense autoset.....for $350.... https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/ele/5768304383.html It could ...

Re: Distilled Water for Humidifier
. . . Bacteria do not need minerals to live. . . . This much is pretty much correct, but tap water does contain other things, including "acceptable" amounts of bacteria, and trace nutrients. We use distilled water to avoid the mineral film that is so hard to remove. This mineral gunk forms a porous...

Re: Distilled Water for Humidifier
You'll do just fine topping off the distilled water. The suppliers are trained to say that in case anything should happen they can say you didn't follow directions. Those who don't want to top off learn to add just enuff to get thru the nite. The pink slime mentioned normally results from using tap...
