Adenoidectomy and lingual tonsillectomy

Hello again, Well, each post I've talked about how I'm fine with using the cpap, it's just that it isn't actually working and I'm still waking up from a whole lot of hypopneas. Turns out I'm not completely crazy because I finally saved up to go to the ENT for an endoscopy, and I have massive adenoid...

Re: Nasal mask mouth leaks, FFM ineffective

Hello, I'm back for a quick update. I found that I couldn't make the nasal mask work no matter what I tried, but it turns out that I have massive adenoids that are completely blocking my nasal passages, which is why I'm still having a lot of hypopneas no matter what pressure or mask I use. I'm about...

Re: Nasal mask mouth leaks, FFM ineffective

Sweet, I'm going to order and try the scunci and cervical collar first and if they don't work, I'll go for the chin strap.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Here's hoping I'm almost to good sleep

Re: Nasal mask mouth leaks, FFM ineffective

MANY people have mouth leaking problems. Solutions are use a FFM/hybrid or use a nasal/pillow mask and control mouth leaking. Chin straps help some people avoid mouth leaking. Others must add taping or just use the Ultimate Chinstrap to control mouth leaking. Those are the options. My signature sta...

Re: Nasal mask mouth leaks, FFM ineffective

i would say, print out your post exactly as written and go to see your sleep doctor. give it to the intake nurse so she can put it in your folder. that way the doctor will have read over it when he comes in the room and you can discuss how to proceed. That's very good advice that I really wish I co...

Nasal mask mouth leaks, FFM ineffective

Hello again, Still on the troubleshooting xpap journey. I've talked before about how my enlarged tongue, bad overbite, and deviated septum are the causes of my hypopneas and that it is unaffected by any pressures, so I've been unable to keep them from happening. I have a low AHI because I wake up be...

A large tongue, UARS, Full Breath mouthpiece, and Joe Rogan

Hello again, I've posted a few times about my cpap therapy not working. I've been trying to make it work for about a year now, with no luck in terms of it stopping me from having many hypopnea events. I'm in an unusual situation, so this is going to be a long one. I've used my apap machine every nig...

Re: Throat still closing suddenly

I'll turn the min down to 10 and try it out. I didn't realize I could sync up to anything or get a wave form set of data. I've just been looking at the minimum info the machine has on its screen. I just bought this from secondwindcpap and the manual doesn't say anything about connecting to a data si...

Throat still closing suddenly

Hello again all, this is going to be a long one since there a lot of factors to the problem I'm having. So I bought this used S9 Auto machine so that I can have data and try out the EPR to see if it helps with my aerophagia issue. According to the machine my AHI has ranged from 0.4 to 0.9 with a lea...

Re: Is it normal to still feel tired/sleep long hours?

Okay, all set! I'm so excited for it to get here and finally have a look at some data!

And thanks so much for the offer Pugsy. I'm going to try it out without the humidifier for the first few nights to see how I feel, but if I decide to get one, I'll PM you

Re: Is it normal to still feel tired/sleep long hours?

Okay real quick, I was wondering if any of you could take a quick look at this machine to tell me if it's a decent model to get and if the price is reasonable. It has the Auto mode and appears to have data, which are the two main things that I seem to need. http://www.secondwindcpap.com/ResMed-S9-Au...

Re: Is it normal to still feel tired/sleep long hours?

Any advice about what machine I should get or just what I'm looking for in a machine is welcome. If money is tight consider a gently used low hour machine from secondwindcpap.com. They even have new zero hour open box specials. Target either the ResMed brand or the Respironics brand. I strongly urg...

Re: Is it normal to still feel tired/sleep long hours?

I'm curious: if you were diagnosed just last year, why are you using a machine that's been out of production for nearly a decade? Was it the machine you were prescribed as a child that you've just recently dusted off to try again? Do you have ANY insurance coverage? Because after a gap in treatment...

Is it normal to still feel tired/sleep long hours?

Hello all, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about a year ago with 16 apneas per hour. I used my cpap but was still having a lot of apneas (my machine doesn't actually measure them, but I could feel and notice them since I was looking out for it). It turns out that I have an overbite that was causing...

Re: Machine losing pressure and tongue apnea questions.

What is your usual sleep position? Some people find their pressure accommodates even back sleeping. Others have more events on their back even while using CPAP. If you feel your tongue is crowding the back of your mouth, you may find stomach sleeping is your best option. Let gravity work for you ra...
