Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

Probably too much coffee, though. Any could be too much. The half life of caffeine in the blood stream is approximately 5 hours, or longer, and the effects could last much longer depending on individual sensitivity. Caffeine is also present in many other foods such as soda, chocolate, some meds, et...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

Until that gets addressed, you're working with a problematic "baseline." I don't want to be harsh, but it sounds to me like you want to pick and choose the elements of Good Sleep Hygiene as they suite you, when they suite you - and there is a lot more to them than a cool room and avoidance of blue ...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

Hi, this may be way 'out there', but the business of beer, your wake-ups, the normal response to Cpap of people not waking x 3-4 to urinate all makes me wonder if you've had your kidneys checked up lately... not saying there's necessarily anything wrong, but it's a bit curious the reaction you have...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

Now I'm trying to actually sleep with a nasal mask on.. (trying to figure out which is going to work better.. the nasal mask. or pillows). Not having much luck. One of the issues I had with all nasal masks is leaking (big and small). Can you publish your SleepyHead charts? If there are leaks of flo...

Re: OSA and Depression

Hello, Was anyone else diagnosed with and treated for Major Depression prior to discovering that they had sleep apnea? Did these symptoms resolve after CPAP treatment? Thank you. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression (not "major," though). Non-expert-opinon: Every case is different. Some depr...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

@blitzmr2 A lot of your issues (not just the airway/sleep/fatigue issues) can be addressed by jaw surgery. I recommend seeing a orthognathic/maxillofacial surgeon to see if you're a candidate for MMA surgery. Some of the things from your post besides sleep-disordered breathing that can be addressed...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

That's the way I understand them as well--just allow two levels, which is beneficial unless your inhalation and exhalation require exact same pressure. I *assume* you could also run a bipap at equal pressure so that it acts just like a cpap, but that's reckless speculation. Everything I Say Below Is...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

Ritalin was temporary to help with wakefulness. On 200 MG on Modafinil now which works better, but I don't take it every day either--it only helps maybe 25%. I've tried 4 doctors. They all say the same thing--'Could be anything,' or most recently "This may be something you never figure out.--may jus...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

To be clear, I'm not 'set' on UARS. I'd be tickled to death if my issue turns out not to be sleep-related (assuming it doesn't turn out to be life-threatening). Just a whole lot of coincidence if not. It seems to be the most likely cause, followed (in terms of probability) by some weird consequence/...

Re: Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

Thanks for the quick response.

To clarify, I had both studies done here done here and the doctor viewable here diagnosed me with UARS.

Yes, clean labs and bloodwork, including kidneys, liver, thyroid, hormones, etc.

Already bought the appliance, unfortunately.

Diagnosed UARS--Help with next steps?

PLEASE help! : ) BACKSTORY I've been "tired" for last 5-6 years, but it's gotten increasingly bad over last year or so, and even more so in last 2 months. What I used to call fatigue and now call "EDS" is terrible. I'm a writer and father of 4 children, and while everyone loves to joke that "that's ...
