Re: Problem with Airsense 11.

To some extent, I've been aware of a bad smell when the water runs dry in every CPAP I've ever had. I'm on #6 now, which is an Airsense 11. I don't find the odor any worse than any other machine I've ever owned (including the recalled one).

Re: New Airsense 11

I just got one too as a replacement for my DS2 machine.

It's a far superior machine! My two complainants so for are (1) I don't like that the hose comes out of the back of the machine, and (2) the display will auto-dim and there's no way to disable that feature.

Re: Airline Travel With CPAP

If it's been handled, whether by TSA staff, hotel staff, or porters, I would run it empty for a few minutes before using. This should clear out any contaminants that might have gotten in.

Re: Airline Travel With CPAP

They might ask to to turn it on. Hopefully, if they do, there will be an electric socket nearby. On the return trip from another country, make sure that the adapter is handy in case they ask you to start it there.

AirSense 11 Auto-set - Observation thus far

After one night, I do find this machine absolutely superior to my Dream Station 2. The only "complaint" is that I'm not fond of the hose attachment being in the back. Unless you put the machine on the night-table backwards, you run a greater risk of dragging the machine down if you turn on your slee...

Re: Just an observation...but who is going to tell him..

Since both Biden and (apparently) Trump suffer from sleep disorders the score is even and we can keep this non-partisan. Just like a presidential candidate needs to make a financial disclosure, (s)he should have to make a medical disclosure. Also, the max should be 75 years at the NORMAL end of the...

Finally got a new machine

I had a Dream Station 2, which was sent as a replacement for recalled machine. I used the "dinosaur" when I learned of the recall until the new one came; about ten weeks. Finally, I got an AirSense Autoset 11! I'm starting it tonight. What did everybody else do who switched and use OSCAR? Did you cr...

I just read some of the rules.
Should have read all of them.

Signal jammers.
Apparently, they still don't want anything like that just in case it got through anyhow. Signal jammers are not 100% reliable.

CPAP at the Papal Election Conclave

I just read some of the rules. There is not to be ANY communication with the outside world. Note that CPAP machines communicate compliance and efficacy data to the DME (or foreign equivalent), to the prescribing doctor, or perhaps to a national health plan. Although I don't see how this kind of info...

Re: C-pap and dementia

CPAP therapy is only effective if it's used! If somebody doesn't bother (or doesn't remember) to put it back on, it's not going to work. If this patient can get an Inspire implant, at least "forgetfulness" won't be a barrier to therapy. The downside is that you might be prolonging the life of an adv...

Re: Mysterious banning for spam has hit again...

I realize that if you don't ban spam, the blog will become useless. However, any method of flagging users (manual or automatic) is prone to error and needs to have a means to correct the errors.

It still syncs to DME, and the data will still appear, albeit a day or two behind.

Re: Wash Before First Use???

I soak the piece that comes into direct contact with my face in vinegar for several hours. That seems to cut down on the allergic properties of the those pieces, and doesn't' seem to shorten it's useful life.

I never washed the other parts, but you should if you're concerned.

Re: Is this weird or am I overreacting?

I'm not aware of anybody ever being flagged for non-compliance for changing the settings. In some cases I have heard of them tuned it back remotely; but you'll know if that happens. Do you have your original prescription? I would start by setting the machine to that pressure, at least as a starting ...
